The Official 2015/2016 NFL Thread

Iupati will probably stay because Crabtree is leaving.

I would love DGB, but I'd like a trade back from 15 to get another pick or two and take him in the 20s somewhere.

Waynes is good, but I think Ifo Ekpre-Olomu's injury is a blessing in disguise for SF because he'll be available with their R2 pick

I like that strategy a little bit, but I think this is the year they stay put or move up. I think Ifo is a solid choice that could work out, but I'm not totally sold on him as an outside CB due to his size. I think he could fit nicely as a Nickel in the NFL, which the Niners drafted in the first round last year. Also, Dontae Johnson looks quite good. So my guess is that if they go with a CB, they will be going for Waynes knowing that his health and potential are in line with a long term starting RCB that can compliment Brock and Ward.

Of course, this will all depend on Cully and Cox status once free agency opens.

If I understand right, the plan is for Ward to move back to his natural safety position after Bethea's contract is up anyway, so I'd guess that they will do everything they can to retain Culliver/Brock and keep grooming Dontae Johnson. I think Perrish Cox probably leaves because he was good enough to get more money elsewhere but CB *should* be alright for the next season or two at least.

I don't think it's an immediate enough need to use the 15th pick on Waynes and if you believe the combine hype there are a ton of athletic freak WRs who will be available in the first few rounds.

Some interesting roster/salary cap moves today.

Packers cut AJ Hawk
Lions cut Reggie Bush
Ravens cut Jacoby Jones (HOLY SHIT THAT WAS HOLDING ON BRUCE MILLER)
Giants release Peyton Hillis -- madden curse etc

Waiting for SF to cut Ahmad Brooks and possibly Vernon Davis

Word is Suh is going to the Fins...

I can't imagine picking a place like Miami over Detroit or Oakland. :laughing

Seriously?

*if* they were to cut him, that's almost 5M in cap savings and only 2M in dead money.

The guy had 26 catches for 240 yards last year. He was obviously checked out because he was bitching about his contract.

It doesn't appear to be happening, but as a strictly numbers move Davis was one of the first guys on the list to cut and save cap money.

I think some of the players knew as early as Feb-Mar 2014 that Harbs was on his way out. It fits the lackluster performances they put in throughout the season. I'd like to blast Davis but I think I'd have a huge problem with the FO if I found out they were letting my WINNING head coach go because they couldn't find a way to work with him.

WE WILL TAKE HIM. Get him over the the Giants. Eli is unstoppable when he has a good TE and two good WR on the same roster. TE is still a question mark for us.

I don't think he's tough enough to play for the Gnatis.

Davis pouted all season, it had nothing to do with Harbaugh. He held out because he wanted a new contract and then he performed like shit.

50 targets, only 26 catches, 2 TDs.

I really hope he pulls his head out of his ass because it looks like he's staying for now.

What I'm REALLY hoping for is an Ahmad Brooks for Brandon Marshall trade.

:x I still say he held out in hopes of getting traded so he wouldn't have to play for a FO that acts like a bunch of chickenshit weenies. And it wasn't just Davis who played with half a heart in it last season. The whole team seemed to teeter-totter between SB contenders and basement dwellers...many times in the same game. It was cataclysmicly bizarre.

That would be incredible. BMarsh is worth more than Brooks. If he does come I hope the 'niners include a clause in the contract that reduces his appearances on Inside the NFL and other media. Too time consuming and distracting.

B-Marsh had exactly one good half of one game last year...it just happened to come at the expense of the 9ers' home opener. I understand the idea of wanting the guy responsible for beating you, but really I think y'all need to temper your expectations of that wingnut.

:shame
BMarsh is a fantastic athlete when he's on the field. Impossible to cover. Unfortunately he's also prone to injury. Last year though...the hit he took to the back?...his injury reminds me of the line Dracula had in Hotel Transylvania, "A wooden stake through the heart? But that would kill anybody, yes?" or some such. That his was brutal.
