The Official 2015/2016 NFL Thread

Well, to be honest, the Falcons sucked sand last year, so maybe they were trying cover up the boos and exasperations from the fans that were there to keep the players from having hurt feelings.

I think the players union should file a complaint of allowing a hostile work environment by not pumping in cheers and other crowd noises that aren't boos.

It's just really ironic that the Georgia Dome, which is known to be one of the loudest stadiums, thus a large home field advantage, got caught pumping in crowd noise.

They were 6-10 last year, and 4 of those losses were at home... :dunno

There just wasn't that much to cheer for, but the GM is close personal friends with Lance Armstrong (per Hard Knocks last year)... *wink-wink*

:laughing

That's funny about the sit in:laughing

The thing is they have no proof, they can't prove the pats tampered with the balls. It was proven that the temp change could have accounted for the drop in psi.

No proof besides science, common sense, and their text messages, that is.

:rofl

they're comparing Kraft's railing and potential lawsuit against league to what big Al used to do...get real. there's a difference in not being in lockstep with the other owners, and willfully trying to piss them off.

:laughing

... but I doubt Goodell will be hanging out at Kraft's house to watch games or celebrate holidays anytime soon.

Hmmm... So you're suggesting that after this decade or so of epic win they Patriots will be a team of unparalleled suck for the next 30 years? Nice, nice...

Yeah, honestly I think I mentioned him as one of the retired vetrerans a few pages back. I thought dude announced it a while ago. Seemed like a real stand up ball player though. I feel like with guys like Smith and Gore retiring the Niners will have a gap in character that will be very hard to fill with new talent. Strong professionals of character like those guys are just hard to come by in today's NFL.

If Foles works out well in St Louis, which is a big if, the 9ers have a great chance at being last in that Division this coming season.

Foles doesn't even have to be great, just a good game manager. The Niners Defense took more hits than the Offense did. That is a super competitive Division right now.

Extra point kicks now set from 15 yards instead of 2. I'm ok with it. My father has been ranting for years about how easy field goals are now. He thinks they should have field goal posts that decrease in space as you get closer to the goal line. 5 yard increments from the 45. Something like that.

The defense can now score on two point conversions, which I really like.

that's why they play. the whole Division has a shot to be good, actually. Rams aren't that bad, Arizona is really good, Seattle is unfortunately good, and SF is a wild card.

where people make a mistake is assuming the unknowns from player turnover and coaching changes etc = negatives. the fact is they are unknowns. there's as much a chance of SF taking off and being a contender again as there is them being in the basement. i disagree on principle in writing them off based on unknowns.

Smith had this to say about Jimmy T.

"This guy is a cerebral guy," Smith told the radio station. "He knows the game inside and out — offensively and defensively.

"Half the time we’re talking defense in our defensive meeting rooms, we’re talking about how the offense is trying to attack us. So he’s got good knowledge of what the offense is trying to do — special teams, all of it. We got a great coach and he’s going to do fine and it’s going to be fun to watch it."

"It’s football. Players move on, coaches move on. You got to roll with the punches. I think they’ll be fine. Like I said, I have all the faith in the world in Jimmy T."

You're missing the whole point dude. It's the tampering of the football AFTER the refs had signed off on the ball. And then the combination of Brady's refusal to cooperate and blatantly lying as well as huge inconsistencies by the Patriots org.

This year, Atlanta got busted for pumping in crowd noise, which I would argue is worse than deflategate. However they admitted to it and fully cooperated. Hence they only lost 5th round pick and 350k.

I'm not missing any point. Had the game been closer or had the Pats gotten their asses handed to them in the SB because they weren't allowed to break this rule...then there would have been some traction. It's just a bunch of to do 'bout nuthin'.

Here'e the way I equate it. It's 1:30am. You're on your way home and you're approaching an intersection. The light turns red. There is no one else in sight. You roll up to the light. Stop. Still no one around. You pull through the light. Yes, you just broke the law. But in the larger scheme of things it was a meaningless infraction. No one was "harmed" or put at risk by your action.

it's very good that it was much ado about nothin...cuz if it DID turn out to make a difference, the shitstorm would be massive.

and

yeah, get used to hearing "Carr-to-Coop...TOUCHDOWN RRRRAAAAIDERS!" over and over and over again. :motherfuckingthreethumbsupbitches

*Sigh* The Legacy of the most injured team in Football 2 years running continues. Our veteran starting LT has now gone down till November with a torn pectoral from bench pressing. Bloody Hell. The NYG have had a starter suffer a long term injury during OTA's for like 4 years in a row. I don't know what the fuck we can do about this injury curse. Different training staff maybe? Draft more for durability? This injury bug in NY is insane.

Maybe its a culture thing...

some of these guys want to be the fastest, strongest, toughest etc etc and they push and push their bodies til they break...

not everyone can be JJ Watt

Yeah, but clearly it is a poison culture for us. 2 years in a row, "Most Injured team in the NFL." They mad e abunch of statements about training and practice schedule changes to not push the guys so hard in an effort to reduce injury, but this shit is driving me nuts. I fullt belive this team could be a legit contender if they could just stay healthy, despite the question marks on Defense.
