The Official 2017/2018 NFL Thread

OTOH, his stock is very high right now, if they traded him in the off season they would get some very good terms for other players.

They'd just have to make sure they traded him to a team in the other division...

Or to a team that has shitty ownership and coaching.

Given Foles' track record and disenchantment with the league/game I could very well see him staying in Philly for at least one more contract. He's with a winner and coach who actually gives a shit about him as a person. Stack a few million on top of that and stay happy.

Dude, he was KILLING it in Philly before he went over there. I was scared to death of Foles when he played for the Shitbirds. The question for us now is, what happens to him? You have to assuem he wants to start again and I dont' think there is any question that Wentz is the man in Philly. What to do with little Nicky?

You know you want him to be the next Eli.

Question: does the Madden curse come into play for the Pat's loss? Or does it only count for season ending injury?

stepping back, it is a wonderful problem for the Eagles to have.

FYI Foles is still under contract for another year. So the power is in Philly's hands. They could very well into 2018/19 with both on the roster, and there's not much Foles can do about it.

They are fools if they do not bank on that shit and trade him for his current high value.

You know you want him to be the next Eli.

Huh? Foles will never a be a HoF guy. The Giants are going to keep Eli and draft a QB high. That is what they will do.

I wonder if something’s cooking in New England, McDaniel just withdrew from the Colts HC job....

Hard time seeing McDaniels ever work for anybody but the Pats again after this.

would you change your mind if Wentz were to miss the first 8 games of the season?

Absolutely, even if he missed the preseason, I would say keep Foles, Franchise Tag him at the end of the season and hold him hostage for a good trade afterwards, but nothing I have heard seems to indicate Philly thinks Wentz will not be 100% for training camp.

Nobody is giving up 2 first rounderes for Foles on a franchise tag.

That was a weasel move by McDaniels. Assistants already signed contracts and took the job and then he bailed. Wonder if this is Kraft's succession plan for Belichick? I don't see Bill staying there...I give him 1 more season.

This is the beginning of the end of the Patriots dynasty.

Patriots dynasty ends when Brady and Gronk leave...

Not at that rate of pay, but someone else makes a new contract part of the negotiation. You franchise tag him to stake out your value. Any trade deal would have to have buy in from Foles, who would sign a 3 or 5 or whatever year deal. If you hit him with the exclusive tag, it is pretty easy. Once you have a market, you have until July 17th to negotiate a long term deal with him that the trading team wants to carry. Sign him to X years to get rid of the Franchise tag, then trade him for a 2nd rounder or whatever you can get once he is signed. It would have to be a 3 way negotiation with Foles at the table to make any good sense.

It makes me wonder if Beli hasn't already resigned but they are holding the news. It's just pretty damned weird. i mean, most obvious theory is a buttload more money..
