Well, it's finally officially announced after a good number of leaks and rumors!
Teaser - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-iWFeD0dkI
Specs - https://www.motorcycle.com/manufact...e-off-yamaha-unveils-the-new-2022-yzf-r7.html
Looks like key specs are same brake rotors, but radial 4-piston Brembo calipers and radial Brembo master cylinder. Forks are fully adjustable KYB, shock is adjustable for preload and rebound. And of course, the beloved CP2 engine, now with a slipper clutch and optional quickshifter.
I was honestly shocked when I first read the price, but it makes sense - it has to compete with the RS660 which makes more power and has better electronics, but was still not expecting the price to be 9000, especially since seemingly it competes on brakes and suspension.
I did find it interesting that they went with the more aggressive clip-on position compared to the raised clip-ons of the RS660, but I have heard of people wanting the more aggressive position on the 660 anyways so I guess it won't matter too much. I'm also sure that the twins racing scene is going to be very happy with this bike - should be much easier/cheaper to start from the R7 instead of building up an MT-07.
Side note, I'm really happy to see NorCal being featured more in launches and promos - first, the new Monster launch in SF and at Alice's and now the R7 teaser being shot at Thunderhill and what looks like some of our local twisties.
