Triumph Daytona 675 sound off

Not one electrical problem with mine.

I have a '06 Red. The only mods done are Heli bars and painted heat shield/end cap.

I LOVE THIS BIKE!!!!!!

How do you like the Heli bars? I'm thinking of risers too and the two that seem to be mentioned a lot are the Heli bars and the (elusive) Cycle Cats. It'd be great to be able to check out a D675 w/ the risers installed. :teeth

I love the Heli Bars. They took alot of weight off of the wrists. However, I have not done a trackday with them yet, but it feels as though they should do just fine on the track.

You might want to do a search on www.triumph675.net because there is alot of good info on the different bars for our bikes.

i have cycle cat risers on my 955i daytona... the nice thing is they're adjustable for angle and sweep (terms i just decided to apply, might be better ones) whereas the heli versions (that i've seen) are only adjustable for rotation about the axis of the fork leg.

now, i just have to unlazify myself and utilize that feature, cuz i don't like the current setup.

cycle cats are significantly more $$ as i understand it, luckily for me the previous owner put them on :teeth heli bars look kinda cheezy next to cycle cat though IMO :blah

FYI....the Heli Bars are non adjustable on the 675. No rotation because they use a mounting hole on the underside of the triple clamp. However, the fit a finish are excellent (IMO)

I had an electrical short that took 3 weeks for the dealer to find.

The motor uses a little oil ...within acceptable range but more than my r6 with 44,000 miles on the motor.

Shifting on my bike, is NOT butter smooth like some say .

Suspension/ geometry is finicky. ride is harsh and tends to tuck the front easy.

Paint chips easily.

Harder to get parts for.

Everything else is awesome...motor, handling, ergo's, brakes, styling, sound, engineering...simply incredible:applause

The + out weighs the - in my opinion.;)

The front end problem is, from what I've heard, due to the weak springs in the forks. To fix this problem, from what I understand, put in stiffer springs and re valve the forks. This is going to be my next mod to the bike.

how and what are you finding finicky? have you adjusted your bike in any way? get your suspension adjusted to your liking and it may get rid of that harsh feel. it wasn't engineered as a comfortable bike, and people who are just doing commute or city riding, may find this bike to be lesser than expected due to aggressive ergos and the stock suspension settings not being "all that."

i've been on it a year and 5 months, and i can't say i've had any issues with front tuck. again, i think this may have to do with your settings. this bike is best when adjusted obviously, as with other bikes as well. stock, right off the lot, ack. with that though, i definitely plan on going with new front internals as well, for the sake of getting higher quality and performance parts, but not because i've felt any issues.

^^^^^

Just to back up what kxmike is saying, I have the front end vague feeling (feels like it wants to tuck) and my suspension is set for me (by Dave Moss). I switched to Dunlop Qualifiers and the problem is better, but not perfect. So, I am going to have the forks re-worked.

weird. i'm just not really feeling that. i went to Pilot Powers, and have dave's settings as well.

either way, even if you're not feeling anything odd, reworking the forks is a solid mod that won't do you any wrong.

I got my bike working ok with the stock components but it took a LOT of work.
The biggests improvement was getting rid of the OEM tires. (I'm running Power Races)
The next thing was to drop the forks in the triples and lower the rear a little by running more sag (the rear shock uses a progressive spring so you can get away with more sag).
The valving in the forks is pretty far off. Slow speed is too soft and high speed is too harsh. I'm running compression backed all the way out and rebound in the middle.
I'm planning on changing the fork oil and messing with the oil level to get some more improvement with the forks before sending them out for a revalve.
The set up I'm running now works pretty good for aggressive street riding and A group trackdays.;)

I heard from someone that the 675 has a lot of electrical problems, is this true?

Meriden Triumphs (pre-1983) were known for electrical problems. Got a lot better toward the end, but regardless the Lucas electrics were always suspect.

Hinckley Triumphs (post-1989) have never shown a tendency to electrical problems. Sam for oil leaks: Meriden Triumphs had vertically split crankcases and would leak, Hinckley Triumphs have horizontally split cases and don't leak.

There are people who have opinions of Triumph reliability based on an earlier era.

I ride the crap out of the front end on mine (shitty lines) and the front end is awesome. Very forgiving in many ways.

I had probs with exhaust valve and ECU. Other than that, it's been trouble-free. Mine's too ugly to post.

Graphite 2006 here, no electrical problems so far (though I do have some recall or the other to check into after Zoom Zoom day Aug 17th Sears Point).

First pic is with a few mods. Overall so far:

TuneBoy
LeoVince c/f slipon
Pazzo levers
steel brake lines
Galfer pads and rear rotor
RaceTech fork work
Elka shock
R&G sliders, stand pegs, axle sliders, bar ends
520 chain conversion
Woodcraft rearsets and engine covers
Hyperpro reactive damper (OEM mount interfered with Pitbull stand so switched to top mount)
bullet cam to record slowness at the track
integrated taillight/signals
relocated lic plate for the occasional street ride

coming soon - track plastics and db clear screen
