TV Shows I am enjoying …and Movies

I watched that show "Adolescence" on Netflix. Its about a 13 year old (I think) accused of murdering a classmate.

Technically, there's novelty. It's 4, 1hr, single take, single shot episodes. Unlike make "long takes" recently, (like 1917, or Extraction) these are, indeed, single takes with no editing.

I didn't realize that going in, but when I realized it on the first episode, it was a bit interesting. That they stretched it the other three, less so.

Basically you're sharing 4, live hours of the experience these people were going through, through an unblinking eye. And, for me, it certainly wears on me.

An interesting show, I won't say I necessarily enjoyed it however.

It was really good imo, but depressing AF lol

Burn After Reading
The Big Sick

Both really good

F 18, gonna be pilots, playing with trainers, , ,
Long ways from "Maverick" , the touchy feelie scenes, way offset the action.

I'm getting a kick out of the guilt trips for "overloading the airframe" with excess G's @ 4. something. Load increases with knowledge/training, yet, full blown apart, to the bare frame for measurement, happens overnite ? Yea, rigggghhht.

Everything you've said is exactly why I'm not much a modern anime fan. It's not because I'm older. I can rewatch Zeta Gundam and enjoy it just as much as I did decades before.

I think the best thing anime has one in recent decades is Dragon Ball Super. Tell the story of Dragon Ball but cut out all the bullshit that was 300+ episodes.

Demon Slayer, I tried but it didn't hold my attention enough. I have friends who love it and that's fine. You like what you like.

I may be contradicting myself a bit but the last anime that really pulled me in was Attack on Titan. Even then I'm still a couple seasons behind.

I never got around to the newer Star Trek seasons. I wanted to because I am a fan of Paul Wesley but it's still somewhere in my queue. One of my favorite shows to rewatch is Frasier and I always think of the episode with Patrick Stewart as the rich dude who thinks Frasier is his gay boyfriend, over Captain Picard
Discovery was hit or miss (per season, since it's more prestige TV style ten hour movie broken up into parts)
Picard was awwwwfulllll

There's a looootttt to unpack in Adolescence

I first heard about it when a couple of people were talking about it during the wait for jury duty,

they were slightly let down / convinced that the kid didn't do it, since American cop drama shows always have that last second twist reveal. But in this case the kid clearly did do it, he was caught on camera and the dad's reaction said it all. Any doubt was removed from his mind.

Did he do it because manosphere? Because he was bullied?

There was something I didn't catch but was pointed out to me later; the psychiatrist lady asked him something along the lines of does dad have lady friends (unsaid: does dad model healthy non-romantic friendships with women) and he did not. In the last episode it's revealed the family wanted to move, but dad did not and dad gets what he wants. He wanted to take the whole family to the paint store, the daughter didn't want to go but ultimately dad got what he wants. Even though dad is a good dude, what he modeled to his son is that the men always get their way, and the kid didn't really see many instances of women pushing back or giving him shit as friends would. I'm probably not explaining that clearly.

I’m watching mindless sitcoms. It helps to put my brain in rest mode.

Mom on Netflix 8 seasons who’d think a show about recovering alcoholics would be a hit.

Gilmore Girls follows Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, a mother-daughter duo who live in the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut.

Enjoy the quick dialogue, the towns entertaining characters are fast paced, makes me smile.

My wife just made me watch it and it was not horrible it was a cut above her normal Hallmark shows. There is also a follow up Gilmore Girls year in the life on Netflix.

Gilmore Girls is the most contrived crap I've ever watched. The dialogue is totally implausible and all the characters are selfish jerks.

On Amazon im watching Chuck I highly recommend.
Also watching My Favorite Martian which comes off differently than it did when I was 8.

Shit man, I got stuck on a whole season of "The Summer I Turned Pretty" a few weeks ago. Home sick, needed something brainless. Surprisingly watchable, but I felt like a 15 year old girl when it was all over.

I recently went on a trip to Europe and brought my Amazon Fire Stick with me. I love that thing. One thing that used to suck about traveling abroad was being stuck someplace that had shitty TV. Now they all have HDMI ports. Some things you can't get like Peacock because of some stupid regulatory BS, but anyway...

I started watching The Terminal List: Dark Wolf. I loved the suspense. I hated having to wait a week to catch the next episode. So I started watching The Terminal List. I caught the rest of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf once I got back home. I didn't like the way each of them ended as they both seemed so implausible. But hey, what do you expect? That's not how it works in a real movie.

What else? I started watching The White Lotus, season three. It's a total soap opera. The three skanky cougars drew me in. That, and the cowboy zombie dude from Fallout playing a greasy lowlife. Anyway, the plot was pretty lame but the scenery was nice. It was cool seeing Schwarzenegger's son playing a douchebag. They have so many of the same mannerisms.

I started watching this show on Amazon Prime called Mallorca Files, but the story lines sucked even though the over-saturated colors looked pretty cool. It was a stupid detective show.

I recently watched The Spy on Netflix. IMHO, Borat (AKA Ali G) did a good job portraying this Arab Jewish spy who does a number on the Syrians in the early sixties. It was pretty kick-ass.

I'm 4 episodes into Terminal List: Dark Wolf, and I felt, so far, that it's better than the first. The first was "OK" to me, this one has been much more interesting.

And, I watched "Girl in Cabin 10". Seemed like a decent film to me. I don't think the 5.9 on IMDB is deserved. 6.5+ easy. Nothing terribly wrong with it.

Boots on Netflix was good, although it somewhat lost the track on the two last episodes.

Decided to give this show a run. It's intense, I enjoyed it.

Each episode is about an hour and there's 8 I think.

We started watching Monster on Netflix. It is so bizarre.
