Walking Dead Season 4 (spoilers)

Pretty obvious they are cannibals. Pretty smart too. People just walk on in, its like shooting fish in a barrel...

The show has waaay too much inconsistency. Kinda disappointing. But its tv, whatcha gonna do?

Ok episode. Boring ass season. Show is getting so artsy. Just give me stupid action and minor drama. Duh!

My coworkers and I couldn't agree on something.....was Carl raped or not?

he didn't need to be raped...rick had enough of watching his boy get put upon by that fucking piece of shit! hell, the gun going off in ricks ear was the best thing that could have happened. it sent him swirling into crazy mode and it took a couple of kicks to get him all the way there:laughing

YOU DON'T FUCK WITH A MANS CHILD...EVER!!!!!!

why the fuck you think he stabbed that fucker into oblivion...the walkers won't even try to eat what is left of him:laughing

Zombie TV/movie logic is never going to be consistent or realistic enough to where we'd like it. Might as well just accept that. If they were too good there'd be no drama and nothing to watch.

Someone made a comment about sending in a line scout first while the others waited. What if that scout ran into trouble they couldn't handle? They've said repeatedly over the last few seasons "we stick together" because shit keeps happening when they split up. Which, IMO, was also some repeated foreshadowing that the group would get split up again, and hey presto they did.

Back on logic though - if we're talking hypothetical what SHOULD they have done scenarios, I think not sending in anyone would have been best. No guards, no walkers...it's quiet, TOO quiet. Rick should have recognized that and hung back. Especially after the governor's town and how that went. Stake the place out, sneak around the perimeter more. I didn't expect them to walk right up to the lady on the microphone either. Figured they'd keep prowling. And even when they were running, it was obvious right off the bat that they were being herded. I had a feeling the place had well established routes for various circumstances once this episode confirmed they don't really have enough guards. Makes sense to have an easily defensible funnel if you can't take the time and effort to secure your perimeter at all times. And then have separate doors you can easily open or close depending on if your prey is alive or undead...

Great Synopsis NorCal!!!

I've watched that trailor that Ant posted, and it shows them running past a big pile of bones,

Which explains the whole "rabbit snare" scene with Rick and Carl before they got trapped.

Knew they were cannibals :p

All and all a pretty good episode. At least there were more than 2 or 3 characters in this one (I hate those)

i knew the map looked too much like a damn spider web!

i love ricks episode ending quote though "they messed with the wrong people"

In almost laughed when he said that. If they keep up that kind of cheese they will never have to worry about starvation. Next they'll be biting (see what in did there??) lines from diehard and terminator

"Yippie ki yay undead fucker!"

"Make sure it's a headshot or... He'll be back"

:rofl

I've personally been waiting for a "BOOM, headshot" myself.

Great synopsis NorCal, and I agree with the general consensus that they should have taken more time to scout Terminus; the place does have a bit of a final/terminal ring to it yeah? End of the line folks, yes please have a seat right there in ze rail car ja? Soylent green indeed.

That said, even with the benefit of my armchair QB position as well as hindsight, I'd still be hard pressed to sit tight and be patient if I were convinced my loved ones were inside, regardless of what else was waiting for me on the inside along with those loved ones.

I too notice some of the inconsistencies, but I'm entertained enough that it doesn't keep me from watching.

I agree, good write up Pete.

Let me clarify. I understand the show needs to create tension and drama. Most of the other times people armchair QB and complain about this and that and real survivalists blah blah, I usually don't give a shit. In this case, even though they go in armed, it still almost is out of character. The situation unfolding went down very differently in the comics and frankly I am not sure why they changed it. In the comic, it fit in much more with Rick's new character development, and takes that further. The situation as it unfolds here just makes him seem more brazen and kind of silly. Naive even. ALL the characters here have had more than enough reason to be wary of others, and especially a town claiming sanctuary. Hell even with the prison they weren't opening their doors to anyone.

Now they find a town they have seen advertised for miles around and aren't immediately suspicious when they can just walk in? I know the difference is subtle but I am less concerned with what the right para-military survivalist tactic would have been and more angry it just doesn't make sense from the character development standpoint. Especially after what they went through the night before, and where they all are as a group.

Ain't that the troof, Pete.

Yeah, I'll be waiting like the rest for the shows to resume in October.
I just can't help but think that it could be sooo much better though.. ok ok..i'll stop

OOOOO, Damn, you're right, V-weez. A little foreshadowing action.

The Walking Dead is so obvious with their foreshadowing lol. Anybody who was surprised when the girls died is a dummy face

As much as I've wanted to, I've refrained from getting the graphic novel because I'm the kind of person who may just end up disappointed when certain iconic scenes from a book/novel are omitted from their respective TV/film versions.

For example, I've read the Song of Fire and Ice series of books by George R. R. Martin, and while I've enjoyed watching the series on HBO there are times when I disagree with how HBO and Martin have decided to write/film a certain scene. For that reason I try to avoid reading original books if I get into a series/movie first, because more often than not they get it wrong. It is known.

My biggest book to movie let down to date, and I'm pretty sure I've complained about it already in this thread somewhere, has been World War Z. Its not that they made a bad movie, because I was indeed entertained, it just didn't share much with the book it was based on (and named after). The most egregious omission (from the book) is the scene where a massive Zeke herd is mowed down by heavy artillery over the course of 48 hours or so. The scene in the book is described by one of the gunners who was there that day, and he sets the tone (and nails the scene and song) when he describes the PA system blaring "The Trooper" by Iron Maiden as the zombie herd comes into sight/range and the first large scale battle begins. I got me some goose pimples just thinking about it again, and yes I'm listening to Iron Maiden's "The Trooper" right now.

Like I said, I was entertained and I had no expectations, so no harm no foul, but also a missed opportunity for the film. If anyone reading this decides to have a second go at making a movie out of this book, you know what NOT to omit. :)

Finally watched the final episode. Been holding off because I knew it would be the last one for awhile. Not surprised at Terminus being a trap, the "herding" with bullets seemed pretty stupid though considering that they are surrounded by sound sensitive zombies.

Rick ripping out the throat of the claimer was awesome, though entirely unbelievable.

Daryl and Rick brother scene was a little cheesy but important for the "group".

Why Army guys hadn't beaten the shit out of Glen for leading them to Terminus and off their "mission", not sure.

Beth?????????????

I think whoever kidnapped Beth is the same person that had been minding the funeral home. Do we think there is a connection with that person and Terminus?
