Wedding Venue Ideas? Cheap to Average

We are hosting our at Ardenwood in Fremont. It's fairly inexpensive. I agree than anything over $5k for the day is ABSURD!

We were looking at Tahoe but it is a burden on the guests and the facilities and rentals are expensive relatively. You are limited to their resources (cakes, photography, facilities, rentals) so it adds up quick compared to the bay area.

Looking forward to crashing your wedding on my 2-Stroke. Braaaaaaap! :laughing

I recently got married there and it's fucking fantastic.

It's a long drive, but you have the entire place to yourself (and guests). It's so scenic there it's unreal. Plus you don't have any curfew or "shut it down" time. So you and your guests can party til 3am if you want.

If you're interested, PM me for details.

My close friends married last year. They rented a mansion in forest hill for a week. It was big enough to house the groomsman and bridesmaids the whole week. The parents, and close friends (us) rented a cabin near by. They set up almost everything themselves in the days prior. Had the rehearsal dinner, ceremony and party at the house. There were probably 150 people or more for the actual event. They hired in Catering for the food and bought kegs and wine from Costco I belive.
They got the house through Air BnB for under $10k. I didn't see much stress from anyone as everything was on site. I thought it was a damn smart idea to rent a place like that rather than stressing about different venues and rules that come with them. The cops only came once, and we're totally cool as they agreed to have the band finished by 1030. :laughing

Get married on a nearby beach , park, etc. You can go revisit the spot anytime you want to.

Fuck "venues" and their prepackaged cookie cutter packages.

Most parks and beaches have you shutdown and be out of the place by a certain time. It really cuts down the celebration when they walk over and tell you to start packing up 3 hours into it.

Pick a spot that has meaning to the both of you. Not just a random place. To a woman, this is the equivalent of a man getting his first Ferrari.

I got married at the Fairmont in SF. It was awesome.

I'ts above the Arlington near Moeser, spectacular view.

had a memorial there for about 75 people, rented the atrium and meeting room they don't show on the website for 2 hrs for about $1500 another $1000 for one of their approved caterers to supply fancy snacks. I had to supply the alcohol. that was in 2013.

Yaaa...definitely don't show up on July 28 because we won't be there.

It's a small wedding of about 15 people...just our immediate family. Something more intimate.

My wife and I did a private wedding in our suite at the Aria in Vegas. But we did a "reception" a couple months later at the Hayes Mansion in San Jose. It's a 200+ room hotel also, so you can really do a one stop shop thing there if you want.

Well shit at that budget the Ritz in Half Moon Bay should be on the table.

Ha! I was there this last weekend for a charity event. As we were having a beverage outside Saturday, they were setting up for a wedding. Looked like about 150 guests. One of our servers let on that the affair cost was over $200k, but you could probably squeak by for less without the 3 open bar stations, buffet and the white stallion the groom rode in on. :laughing

Freedom Hall is great

It's not really venue price that's gonna set you back, food and alcohol will run in the $100-$125pp range. At 95 people you're already at $12k then add on $5-$10k for venue and whammo you're pushing close to $25k once all is said and done

My friend just got married at Kohl Mansion which was really nice and I know they were on a budget

Another group of friends got married at and it too was gorgeous. They were on a super budget and it was beautiful

Empire Mine is great. That is where I got married. The wait list is getting longer and longer now that more people are realizing how great it is and how affordable it is.

Our son and daughter-in-law had theirs at the Corinthian Ballroom in San Jose 9 years ago. I believe it was around $100 per person, which included the hall set up for the wedding, then everybody was ushered into another room for drinks while they set up the main room for the reception, which included a great meal, and then DJ dancing.

Oh you can definitely go whole hog and drop 6 figures, but you can also do it for $30k-$50k.

We got married at Grand Island Mansion in Walnut Grove and it was great. I liked that they did most of the stuff for us so it was fewer vendors to manage. Room for about 30 people to stay over night and keep the party going. We hired shuttles to get everyone else to and fro over the windy dark delta levee roads. Beautiful space, food was really good.

Price was less than $20k, but we did get a discount for a few grand based on when we booked.

I got married at the Old Homestead in Crockett in 1996. Total for the day was $400 I think and you got the place from 8 am to midnight (back then anyway). All told, we got married and had the honeymoon in Vegas for about $6K. Includes the dress, catering, all of it.

We did the courthouse. She bought a dress online for about 125$ and I invested in a new pair of dress socks. That was mildly affordable.
