Wedding Venue Ideas? Cheap to Average

I love how at every life milestone, dubs has questions about how to find cheap to average options. 2 years from now, we'll be hearing questions about the cheapest car seat that still (mostly) protects a baby.

This seems to imply that you believe the more money you spend on the wedding the more committed the couple is?

I my experience, it seems the exact opposite is usually true.

Nothing wrong with getting married as long as you know it's temporary.

Life is temporary.

Our younger son got married in the St George Hotel in Volcano - pretty nice historic building and they serve a killer steak! It cost around $5K to rent the whole bottom floor for the wedding and reception, and several rooms for the night.

I never understood why ANY sane person would want to drop ridiculous amounts of money on an event that will only last for less than a full 24 hour time period. Tens of thousands, other people hundreds of thousands, all going to waste, in my opinion. Pay for a trip or do some other memorable activity instead of going into debt, attempting to show off and elevate one's status for a single day in the image of others. My $0.02.

Waiting for the old farts to call me a squirt and tell me "it'll be your turn soon..." :twofinger

Getting married at the Point Cabrillo lighthouse next year. It's super cheap to rent the venue and there's lodging for up to 18 people on site (which is extra and reserved though a different agency). You have to arrange all the other details yourself.

Agreed

Until, I did it

We did what we could afford and not a bit more. No complaints at all.

If you have the budget I highly recommend our spot. http://www.nestldown.com

Actually I feel the opposite.....His threads tend to ask about expensive cars, rings, homes, etc.

Nothing wrong with that, as long as his girlfriend isn't the one who's always pressing for that.

Your County Courthouse!!!

We then went back to my house, which she and I had decorated ourselves. All of my party favors contained a bottle of booze!!

I had the food catered.

Great time, for about $1,000!!!

There are two Mansions located at Mare Island, in Vallejo.

They are around $1,200 for all day. They have full kitchens plus indoor/outdoor options.
