What Are You Thinking Of Right Now?

1 year, 7 figures in and a spouse blows up a partnership that benefited my partners well more than myself. Would have taken them from mounting debt and a boss to being their own boss and solid financial footing and growing wealth/ equity.

Further reinforcement that people's lives are the result of their decisions and emotions. Sad and frustrating. Puts an arrow through the heart of "helping the partner" as a tenant to doing a deal. Compassion is overrated and capital is well underrated.

Obviously you are frustrated, my recently deceased friend simply wouldn't take my advice either.

I tried to teach him the exact opposite of the above and he would have been far happier in his final years had he listened.

House paid off, owned a fully paid off rental property with his wife, top 5 percentile net worth.

Main thrust of my advice was spend a small amount of what you have to make memories including giving some to your grandson in the form of a 529 or to the two daughters you adore to see them enjoy it while you are alive.

His response on the latter?

"It will spoil them."

One is an experienced RN the other a tenured college professor both with their own homes.

Both in their early 40s.

I'm afraid of dying rich but that is starting to appear likely, so more trackdays.

We share in the frustration, but we can't control people like robots. It just brings be back to where I always end: people are where they are because of their own choices and, luck. One we can manage...

It’s best to hang out with people who make good choices in life. This includes spouses as well as friends.

And if a bit of luck can be thrown into the mix, so much the better. But not at the expense of good choices.

We don't share views on this though:

Understand. That's a line specific to my specific deal.

They replaced a 3-way stop intersection that I've driven regularly most of my life, sometimes 4 times a day or more, with a traffic circle (in saranap, between wc and lafayette). I believe they did it to be trendy, as there was never a problem, other than moderate traffic when the high school let out. Then, to be even trendier, they put a huge piece of art right in the middle. #1- Why do we want art to distract drivers in an intersection? #2- Wouldn't it be wise to be able to look accross the traffic circle to see what's coming? #3- It's a mile away from a retirement community with plenty of drivers who could barely negotiate the regular intersection. I never remember an accident there. Since they "upgraded" to the circle, there's been a bicycle fatality and at least 3 serious collisions... and that's just the one's I've seen, I'm sure there's been more. That's what you get when you "fix" a problem that never existed.
The southbound approach to that traffic circle is the dumbest fucking thing lol. Imo the traffic circle isn't the problem, it's people. Nobody understands how to just flow through it.

The new drainage for that thing has eroded the shit out of my lots adjacent to the termination of Phill road @ Olympic. Las Trampas Creek.

Did the planning commission force ages of "environmental impact studies" before that project? :rolleyes

Any nieces or nephews the would be over the moon with a small check?

I haven't seen or talked to a blood relative in 11 years. My niece, not a blood relative, is a gorgeous African American that will be a multi-millionaire in her 60s cus of white people dying. She's got a masters in some field related to sociology and is a published author, so it ain't like she's poor.
When I say she's gorgeous I'm being objective. Took her to a Raiders game and guys were falling over themselves to get her digits.
