What have you made lately?

I think it looks pretty darn good, especially for being in a garage.

Poop are you still planning on installing the drivetrain from the sawed off Dodge van?

You are living up to your forum name there MrIncredible. That is an awesome paint job.

When I get some time I was going to practice painting on the kid's golf cart because I would love to paint my Challenger after I get it running.

The Falcoon looks pretty awesome :thumbup

We made shop chairs out of the van seats.

I thought Fairlane but Falcon it is, I think.

It's a Falcon.

First car I've ever painted. At some point during the second coat of blue my paint gun did a Peter North impression and just started spewing white shit everywhere. No idea where it came from-looks like my air dryer died. Oops.

There's another Falcon after this.

Sometimes you buy a parts car because it's cheaper than the parts you need to buy.

And sometimes that parts car is in nicer shape than yours so you don't use those parts, and end up shopping for a third one to make two out of three.

Some of us are huge idiots, and a part time job taken when I started this and just putting that money into savings would have paid for a finished one by now.

I expect the sale prices on all this will be at the fire sale level when my wife throws me out.

Whats you secret for no orange peal?

Prime. Block sand with 220. Use the longest board you can find. One of the durablock kits would work fine.

Use guide coat. I use the 3m dry powder. Get alllllll of your sanding scratches out.

Reprime, block sand with 400 dry or 600 wet. Use a red scotchbrite for areas you can't sand.

Post sand wash and tack while blowing with air.

Paint!

I remember in HS painting a friend's Datsun b210 on the side of the road. It took a few coats, but I had mixed all the catalyst and it got a little thick the next day - double orange peel but he liked it. It was more aerodynamic, like a golf ball, well textured.

Shoe rack. Almost done.

I was all set up to paint my '73 Challenger and I was going to borrow my neighbor's compressor because I was in college and broke. But the day I went to borrow the compressor to start painting it took a shit on him and was down. So I had to take all of my paint back to the shop in Watsonville ( I bought lacquer originally) and got poly so that I could take it to a shop and have it done. I learned some hard lessons about how far out you have to feather problem areas for black paint. It came out with issues from my first-time prep work but it still looked nice from far away.

Nice, I've been wanting a custom boot rack for a while now. I have 5 pairs of motorcycle boots and they're taking up too much room. Plus regular boots, shoes, sneakers. Sick of looking at them in a pile in the corner.

Think I'm going to draw something up and have it made if I can't find a ready made item.

Came out ok.

Came out ok.

Did you rip dimensional lumber for the rails or use something else?

I think that came out pretty nice.

I hope you don't have the same issue I do. Every time I build something I can only see what I did wrong or could have done better so I am never satisfied with the end product.

Made this a little while ago figured I should post something up in here finally.

Cradle built and designed by me. Staining was done by my better half and she also made the bumper and mattress.

It was built for my great granddaughter who should be making an appearance sometime this month. We took it to her baby shower and I already have requests to build more of them so I need to come up with a BOM.
