Where is Nuetral?!?

yes, i suppose you are better off than the 17yo who already has 2 speeding tickets. i don't know what kinda crx you're talking about that's so fast, i used to have a turbo rx-7 in high school, now *that* was a cool car!! guess it helps to have a family in the auto business. i've driven all manner of sporty cars, but settled on pretty ordinary comfy ones, once you ride a bike anything else will seem slow anyway.

but do check out the cost of insurance, cuz if u get pulled over and u don't have coverage, it's the same as a car, you will be fined up the a$$.

If it was an FD you had... I'm seething with envy right now. :laughing :twofinger :twofinger

<---The guy that had to settle for a miata as his car for the twisties. :cry

A lot of these threads are VERY long, a lot of flaming is involved, but I hope they scare the shit out of you when you read them, they still freak me out. You might note that all the threads are started by the same person.

A suggestion- get an SV 650. Serious fun in a small easy to handle package. You will have a hard time out-growing this bike if your main goal is to improve your riding skills.

On a big bike (such as any GSXR) things can happen so quickly that you will not have any time to react.

I have ridden 170+ hp (at the wheel) bikes, and driven 500+hp (at the wheels) cars, and there is no comparison.

An SV is not intimidating and forgiving to learn on, but ridden well can embarrass many people on their liter bikes.

This is not to say you can't learn on a GSXR- but I guarantee that if you started on something slightly less aggresive than the Gixxer, and slightly more so than that 50- that you will become a better safer rider much sooner.

The point people are trying to make here is that nothing you've done before will prepare you for the first time the front wheel comes off the ground when you grab second and accidently slip the clutch, or hit coolant while turning left in an intersection, or some guy in a car changes lanes unexpectedly placing you in harm's way. The number of controls on a bike, the fact that the two brakes are separate, that you skid and you will (likely) fall instead of coming to a rest, and the amount of attention you need to have compared to driving are all factors you will not appreciate until you've actually ridden.

Take this thread as tough love from people who know, quit arguing your point, eat some humble pie, take the MSF course, get your bike, and ride safe.

yea sorry i guess i was kinda getting outta hand thanks all for your advice

Yeah, why waste your time on the 600, go ahead and get a 1000 or better yet, the hayabusa.
Or...you could pay attention to what the EXPERIENCED RIDERS are telling you and quit trying to think "you're all that". I have albums older than you, hell, I have undigested red meat in my colon older than you. Listen to what these people have to say. They are not talking shit out of the side of their neck. They have been riding for some time, and they know what they're talking about. Sure, some of them ride fast, but they ride SAFE, and within their limits, with the proper gear and mindset. Motorcycling can set you free, or it can kill you. Which group would you rather be in? That is all, thank you for your cooperation.

shit dude, a little late. I already conceded to their advice and who the hell ever said I was "all that" damn dude maybe you should actually read the posts since I said I was listening to EVERYTHING they were saying. So yes I am reconsidering getting a GSXR but I just wish I didn't have to say that again as I had already said it before.

Ok I'm sure the guys question has been answered a few times already. Just curious how this thread got so long?

Newbie wanted to buy a gixxer. Are you really that surprized that is went on for this long? This is nothing compared to some of the topics started by fr0ng.

Yea so i guessed I fucked up. i started this forum asking for help and I got it but not without a healthy dose of flaming. so i am sorry for seeking advice before getting a bike but what you want me to do

Dude, I definitely wasn't trying to flame you. The first part of the post was comedy, but then depending on how you read it, it may not be funny. I think you did well to seek out advice and words of wisdom from the folks around here. That's all I was trying to say. Listen to what they're saying and learn. I did notice a bit of an attitude, but that's cool. Everybody around here has some kind of attitude. It's really difficult to fully understand what a person means when he is just typing. You can't see his face or hear his tone of voice. Anyway...take it easy. Hope to see you out on the road soon.

If you get the Hayabusa, you won't even need to know where neutral is, just shift anywhere like a pussy and you'll find it. The ultimate beginners bike!

No, seriously, that is the downside of such a burly transmission. Happens to me every now and then.
