Why does Costco check your receipts at the door?

So why aren't you guys protesting against cameras? After all, with upcoming facial recognition they'll be able to capture a record of where and when you were at. I'd think that's a worse violation of privacy than receipt checkers.

Also, legally you don't have to stop.

Good to know. Next time I will pick up speed as I get to the exit.

I usually ask them to draw smiley face on my receipts though.

I can't believe the vitriol some of you have about having to show your receipt and what you bought.
It's so easy to turn the 36 seconds it takes into a pleasant experience for both of you. The door monkees are just doing their job. Exchange some pleasantries and move on. It's way easier then carrying all the negativity you people have.

I tried to convey this very point several posts ago.
You did a much better job than I did.

Next time some chump tries to check my receipt, I'm gonna bust out my phone, FaceTime Live that shit and start screaming in his face about human rights violations and crimes against humanity and how he or she should be ashamed of him or herself and would be better off robbing liquor stores and thieving from old ladies cuz you VIOLAIN' MUH RITES.

While screaming

#WORLDSTAR!

The number of 1st world problemz in this thread is too damn high.

Nobody is maintaining it's a serious problem. Once you live in the 1st world and food, shelter and self actualization are no longer issues, denying the receipt checker gains higher priority :)

we did get two-three good real life stories outta that one.

I got one:

Was buying a TV at best buy, payed at the register near the TVs. I saw the receipt guy eyeing me as we were leaving and my wife started to reach for the receipt, and I jumped in and said, "no thanks" and we walked by. It took her by surprise and she got a little upset at me. I start talking about rights and shit, I could tell she thought I was an idiot (But MUHHH RIGHTZZZZZZ).

won't be doing that with the gal around any more!
