hell yeah i like BARF and BARFers... i dont think he does, he took it personal..
he was pissed about someone crashed on my rides..
What else does Tim think?
You're reading quite a bit in; maybe you're right, maybe not. You're not going to find out by bitching, moaning and name calling. I can think of exactly zero examples on this board where that has helped to work something out.
I haven't been following your whole history with Tim (sorry, don't care that much), but in "the thread that started all this" the following happened:
TeeSnob posted a group ride. Normal time & place stuff.
Someone said it was going to rain. Someone else thought everybody was nuts for wanting to ride in a storm.
Then there was a bunch of banter about the coffee place, bikes that might or might not be ready, riders that might pussy out and so on. Kind of normal off-topic bullshit that end up in a lot of group ride threads.
Enchanter told everybody to cut out the chit-chat or he'd close the thread. He told; he didn't ask. Is that the issue?
TeeSnob replied, reiterating there would be a ride and then railing on Enchanter. Whined, called names. May have had valid points; raised them in an immature, confrontational fashion.
Enchanter responded with incredulity, refuted a point or two, stated his rationale and closed the thread.
OK, so, getting back to Enchanter trying to keep the thread on topic: His request is consistent with how he moderates the Crash Analysis forum. The charter for that forum is narrowly defined. Tim's request in this case wasn't consistent with how the Group Rides forums has been moderated up until now. Is that wrong?
Group Rides is about as bad as the Sink for threads going sideways. In some threads, the signal to noise ratio is pretty bad. If a forum that purports to be about a certain topic is to help people find things they're interested in, someone needs to periodically remind the natives to stay on track. If mods didn't do that, all forums would eventually become the Sink.
So, what I see is Tim told y'all to keep the thread on topic. TeeSnob came on pretty strong in response. Tim closed the thread and probably did TeeSnob a favor, instead of letting him get a time-out.
Then, with one post, Highway9Rider created an 8 page thread (at the moment) about Enchanter. I think Tim probably has rational reasons for doing what he did. I think it might be more productive to try to find out what those are, if you really want to know. Or you could just do what he toldja and call it a day.
