I'd never do that, but Troy Bayliss used to.
But yeah, you'll need to remove your kickstand.

Does anyone ride to the paddock on a race weekend?
I did this for PTT on April 27th on my Ninja 300, and I had a blast! For various reasons, I live in the city - can't own a truck/trailer/parking spots.
At the track I disabled my rear brake and took off my mirrors in less than 10 minutes. I'm reading through the AFM guidelines, and they look similar to the track day regulations. The exception is the safety wiring required on the oil pan, front and rear wheels, etc. Another piece is the removal of the sidestand. I don't see how I could ride to the track without a sidestand, and park my bike. Everything else seems OK.
How important is the removal of the sidestand from the bike? I'll likely not place in the club 300 class, so I doubt other racers would complain.
A LOT of people thought I was crazy for riding to a track day, so I'm not at all concerned that people will think I'm generally crazy for riding to a race.
If the kickstand is a major issue, then I may do the feel-like-a-pro bike for the September race school. But for $650 rental on a race weekend, I could buy some cool stuff for my 300.
Is there anything else I'm missing on riding to a race? I'm just trying to have some fun out there, and enjoy the racing.
At the track I disabled my rear brake... in less than 10 minutes.
Sounds like the FLAP is the way to go.
Also, I took the rear tail light out to disable the brake light. Disabling the rear brake does sound a little crazy
I could safety wire, get number plates, a belly pan, and take a 'foldable' rear stand with me in my backpack, But it seems all too unnecessary.
Thanks for the tips guys!

Might as well just pick them up at Rd1 at this point. Save the club a couple bucks in postage
Food for thought..
If I remember correctly, you always get an opportunity to do that last practice on Saturday even if don't sign up for Saturday morning practice.
I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong![]()
So this is kind of a ridiculous question but I am going to ask anyways. Is it possible to have a qualifying session to set grids for races? Either its own session or perhaps a best time taken from practice?
We do this already. Haven't you seen FP gridded?
Ah - you mean for the rest of the classes, too? The difficulty is matching times with bikes and classes. How do you establish times for someone racing two bikes, say a 650 and 1000, so that the proper practice time is used for the proper race. FP is easy because you are just looking for the fastest time. Other classes not as easy.
Hey Mark,
Not Correct. We get the last practice on Saturday because we have a race on Saturday, F40LT. You get one practice session on the day of your race/s.
