AFM make up race weekend choices

They stopped being brought up through clubs about the same time big sponsors realized they can make a shit ton of money off of up and coming little kids :) Then they started stealing all the really good ones.

If only I was where I am now when I was 6 :laughing Wait, when I was 6 I'd still be stuck being from AFM....

Just because somebody has afm license in stack of 10 others does not mean it is produced by afm. Who started with afm, moved up to next level and won championship? What championship did Mamola win?
My guess is most came from down south.
Out of my head I think Montano is last afm guy who won national title.

again DK Jr....you didnt answer my question..THEN WHAT CLUB IN YOUR OPINION has produced MORE TOP level riders than AFM?? Just curious.

Oh and IIRC Mamola did start with AFM..iirc he was the youngest ever AFM pro/expert license holder. That was until 2009 when Peter Lenz got his! :twofinger

As for "national titles" Yeah they all have! Dugan won a few National title for me (out of WMRRA/OMRRA) Mike Sullivan (same clubs) won more than a few nationals even international (New Zealand iirc), etc... i still think AFM as a whole has some of the deepest talent, just my $.02 but then again i have racers in 10+ Clubs around country...on more than just SV650's....what would i know. :twofinger

...what would i know.

Not much :twofinger, still waiting on your list of racers that started racing with afm and won AMA or World titles in last 20 years.
I think some club racer from down under and one from up in ice land have won more than all USA clubs together :laughing

Reason I would not consider afm producing this guys, they were already established racers with talent before doing some afm races. Those guys were product of dirt track clubs in my view, they already raced for years before doing afm race.

I would agree that they learned the strategies of racing and riding techniques, but not all the dirt trackers or motocrossers were able to make the switch to road racing. Although products of a different genre, they honed their asphalt skills at the AFM.

I would also say that Eddie Lawson, Randy Mamola, although racing dirt trackers, were also road racing as youngsters in the AFM and although I have attached a picture of Randy, I have somewhere, Eddie on a 50cc or 80cc road racing bike, so I would say they also learned their road racing skills in the AFM.

I think the same is true for Fred Merkel, but I believe Donnie and Rich are direct products of the AFM. Donnie I believe won the 250 National Championship 3 years in a row and we all know about the domination Rich had in the 250 class.

Man this thread reminds me of late December when it's raining and everyone is sitting around the house posting on Racer forum.

You guys didn't hear about the decision. Triple points and the race will be at RFR. :teeth

hardy har har,

At this point I'm going to pretend there is no make up race...moving on with my life.

Except I heard from my confidential sources yesterday that the race was on for THill, but I also heard a week earlier that it was off. So.... I guess we'll just keeping checking back to this thread and skimming thru all the off topic banter looking for real information. Wish the AFM would just make a decision and move on with it so we can make plans and arrangements as necessary. The worse decision you can make is not making timely decisions. (And this is no longer timely.)

This is a little too late for making up either of these races.
But another possible plan at future races that need to be made up would be:

Make it a 3 day weekend and have two races for each of the classes.
