AMA NEW SCHEDULE

I don't see AMA Pro going anywhere unless an overseas entity comes in to run it/push it out.

ah, OK - don't bogart that while I dream.......

a BSB round at Barber, or VIR

a World Endurance round at Elkhart Lake or Mid-Ohio

a closed-course M/C Speedfest record run meet at Talledega

a combined-series World Finals for e-bikes at Sears Point

You're probably right if JU doesn't want to step into running a series, or can't find someone to take over for him that is.

Sadly, it's the ONLY option I see open to really get a U.S. series viable again. I really don't see AMA Pro management doing anything themselves to improve things regardless if it is their own doing or if it is DMG cutting their Achilles tendon.

i wonder if AMA Pro will try to swoop JU's TV deal w/ MavTV for next year. they should be already trying.

John's concept here was the same as BSB…a few pro races ran in the same weekend as an Amateur racing round. That can work competitively across the country. It's somewhat different than AMA, but also much less costly.

The series itself was a mother to set up due to their being no marketing/ sponsor infrastructure, but now that it's done, there's a lot of ground work laid. The question is, will the pro riders come ride it next year and will DMG put together a good TV package in 2015?

I'll put this here since this thread is most relevant:

Did anyone find a place to watch the 1st round of superbike shootout? Online or on TV on youtube? I don't get that channel so if anyone saw it can they chime in?

The Superbike Shootout rounds will only be broadcast tape delayed. Ulrich said they couldn't find enough money for live TV. Broadcast dates have not been announced yet.

yeah - not sure when it will be aired if ever

but

1 #36 Martin Cardenas
2 #2 Cameron Beaubier
3 #4 Joshua Hayes
4 #95 Roger Hayden

1 #50 Bobby Fong L
2 #8 Garrett Gerloff
3 #35 Benny Solis
4 #98 Jake Zemke

Local HMB kid Matthew Orange came in 10 for SBK

margin was just the top 2 ;) otherwise everyone else was back... way back - the gap between 5 and 6 is just sad

hmmm... interesting

I pulled mine from RRW as well

updated from a new location which seems to jive with your linked article.

New "series" so I guess we can expect some glitches. I like your result better.

Sonoma weekend will have live timing and scoring as well as live footage all weekend long on the AFM website and RRW website.

Superbikeshootout.com had live as well but they didn't have results updated (when I checked some 4 hours later) - and no footage

The one thing the AMA does do well is their App.

True…and one thing we could do better with a smallish budget is more cameras for Axial Video. They'll be trying out two new things for us this weekend; Drone with live feed and onboard with live feed…should be neat to see if it works Matt!

This sounds great.

drones?

does this mean that all my tweets will be captured by NSA for future non-study?

There is ONLY so long that someone can wait to watch a tape delayed sporting event, probably after about a week the relevancy tends to taper off and you are losing viewers left and right.
I still cannot understand the obsession with terrestrial TV, put that thing on youtube LIVE, set up the relevant ads through google and stream some of your own into the feed and you are good to go! The best production of an AMA race I have ever seen was the live streaming of SuperSport race last year at Laguna filmed/produced by DORNA. The quality was unbelievable its just too bad only a small amount of people saw the last minute announcement.

^^^ Agreed. However, its my belief that the marketing people at the major brands all still believe TV is better than streaming. Their strategy is still magazine ads and TV. It probably works really well for Supercross and MX but the future is obviously streaming. Seems like streaming would give exact numbers on viewers and number of repeat views or shares vs the estimates from the TV ratings.

I remember a comment in another BARF thread recommeding racetracks dumping jumbotrons and offering streaming. Fans with smartphones at any part of the track could watch the rest of the race, get lap times, see/hear the start, the pit reporter and anything happening on pit row. Sounds like a great idea to me.

That would be great. Many tracks have very limited viewing of two or three turns where you are seated like Road Atlanta and VIR. It'd be great to be able to sit anywhere and see the rest of the action and know what is going on.

Online view counts are very easily spoofed depending on how the channel is being monetized.

on another note...

Berto, will you be getting Nielsen ratings for broadcast exposure on the backend of the event, after airing?

It would be interesting to see and compare vs other events.
