AMA NEW SCHEDULE

I remember a comment in another BARF thread recommeding racetracks dumping jumbotrons and offering streaming. Fans with smartphones at any part of the track could watch the rest of the race, get lap times, see/hear the start, the pit reporter and anything happening on pit row. Sounds like a great idea to me

Bandwidth challenges would be very difficult to overcome I would assume. This is the only reason I paid for motogp VIP seats at laguna every year. I want to watch the whole race and not just 2-3 corners

I didn't say it would be easy or cheap. If the TV model is going away, why not use the full potential of (buzzword alert) new media?

word is that 3000+ wristbands were sold for this past Sunday. the paddock was def packed.

i was using the free MyLaps App to watch live timing all weekend.

I would wager it is virtually impossible without a technology sponsor willing to do it...

I wager we will see it in stadiums first as the coverage area is limited.

I only say this because... have you ever tried to send a text during a sports game? It can take a while for it to get out due to bandwidth.

A sports game? I've sent texts and posted photos from Laguna during MotoGP without issue. Same for our Triple A baseball game in Sacramento. Haven't attended a MLB, NBA or NFL in years. I'll let you know about Hangtown next month.

There are already thousands of people using mobile devices to send photos, videos and other data during a GP race. I've used AMA's mobile apps at flat track races. At the Stockton sort-of Half Mile last year it was great. Updated within a second of a rider crossing the line. Also followed Flat Track Live on Facebook so I could get behind-the-scenes photos and videos. All while at the track.

I know a guy who followed the AMA Streaming live on his phone during the Daytona 200 while he was at the track.

As I said, it won't be easy but fans will expect it soon enough.

my experience is every AMA race in 2012 and every giants home game in 2013 and the first 3 home games this year. (we couldn't get an instagram photo out on a 5s for a little while...)

I know my antiquated phone doesn't support 4g so that plays into it.

glad to hear they are making steady improvements. When you go to hangtown... if you are on an iPhone, can you download the speedtest.net app and run it? Would be interesting to see what numbers you get!!!

I plan on running this at events I attend in the next couple months. too bad I have nothing planned for a while

EDIT: I really wish they would post the race up ASAP, http://www.superbikeshootout.com/videos/ I mean the page is all set up!

How do you get the moto people to watch what content they do have up?

a video with 1,735 views isn't even worth mentioning. Granted I felt the video was a waste of time because it doesn't convey a damn thing

an EBR SuperBike will be present at Sears Point:

".....Cory West will be racing at round 2 of the Superbike Shootout.
Kudos to local sponsor, K & L Supply in Santa Clara, for helping to make this happen
......"

Superbike Shootout wont be on TV until June. i hope its awesome.

Wow, that schedule is a horrible way to promote the races. I just read a report that even in Spain, MotoGP viewership drops in half if the race isn't shown live and even then we're only talking a few hours.

I can't imagine what over a month will do over here for a new series just trying to get started. Seems like they're going to have to really promote the web streaming.

yo, supposedly this is NOT ".....a new series trying to get started....." -
rather, it's a stop-gap fill-in for AMA Pro's failure to schedule any 2014 West Coast races

Ulrich & crew are consistently saying they already are busy with race teams & "RRW" & don't wanna create another full-time burden

Maybe. I'm probably just projecting what I'd like to see happen. Based on the amount of sponsorship & support they've been able to drum up in such a short period of time, I'd argue I'm not the only one.

Hopefully next year, where they have more time to plan ahead, they'll be able to work out a better TV package.

JU didnt have the $$ for live TV. i agree that its a little silly to show the races so delayed. im less inclined to watch if i already know the results, theres no curiosity to find out what happened cuz i already saw the results blasted on the internet. but this TV package is the best we have so ill prob watch them all anyways just to support the effort.

Hopefully it won't grenade on him like the WSBK ones have been doing.

actually, that grenading's been the lone consistent problem for EBR racebikes - lotsa online yammering recently about cylinder wall/gasket surface instability, water jacketing, etc. - we'll see

many Buell fanbois are upset with the SBK team's lack of results -
color me disappoint.......

What do you expect when you're 15mph down in top end alone?

And the first real effort on a world level for a relatively new manufacturer. Didn't Buell just start racing back in the mid 2000s with HD and in AMA? There's not a lot of experience there. 15mph down isn't that bad considering.
