Any (4-wheel) Overland types in here?

I shot some video of the less challenging trails using my mobile. I figured that was not a good idea on the more challenging trails lol

I do some overloading. It's a way to get my wife involved as she's not currently a rider. I also scout out areas to go back and ride.

Some pics from the Pleasanton Overland Bound meetup yesterday.

That was a pretty sizable group out there. Bunch of good looking rigs.

gonna hit up saddleback rd through to laport via poker flat tomorrow if anyone wants to go. will be at the entrance in downieville at 10am. gas up in grass valley or nevada city as there arent many options after. there are a few but its hit or miss if their pumps are actually working.

Bumper and winch all mounted up with nowhere to go. Ended up pulling logs at a buddy's property over the weekend instead. :laughing

Picked up a 2003 Wrangler over the weekend. It’s basic but will be fun to build into a simple trail rig. Low miles. Price was good. Wish it had different gears/axles but that can be done down the line.

Looking forward to taking it out with my sons and doing some exploring. My father in law has a CJ7 so it will fun to roll around with him.

Already ordered a bunch of stuff for it - OME lift, winch, better headlights.

Pic is from the seller. It’s getting new tires this weekend

How big of a suspension lift? Are you lifting the body? OME makes great stuff, I've lifted three XJ's and one TJ.
Stick or Auto? 6 Cyl engines w/5 spd stick came with 3.07's. Stock tires were probably 225 or 235/75x15r. 6Cyl auto's were typically 3.54's. Optional was a
Dana 44 rear w/3.73 gears. Rubi's came with 4.11's.

If you put 33" tires with 3.07 gears it will suck! 31's won't suck as bad, but you'll be grabbing 4th and maybe 3rd trying to go up Hiway 80 and maintain a decent speed.

I'm guessing this will be more of a daily driver, if so 33's with a re-gear to 3.73's are a great combo. Consider a locker for the rear. No need to go to any bigger tires on the stock axles/diffs, you'll just break shit! Remember the higher you go the more stuff you'll need!

Have Fun!

Whatever apocalypse he's fleeing from would've surely caught up by the time he gets a 100 yards in. Probably better off hoofing it.

:laughing

This is my second TJ. It’s very base. I6 5spd manual. 3.07 unfortunately. But the price was right and it’s in just about perfect condition. It will be a trial rig. Just exploring.

Simple build. OME 2” lift with 31s. No body lift. Probably an Aussie in the front. Not sure what I’ll do in the rear yet. Maybe a take off 44 out of a Rubi.

I’ll tow it behind my Rebel. It’s purely a toy.
