Any (4-wheel) Overland types in here?

Thats a weekend well-spent.

Very cool location on the Merced River.
Can you share where that is?

El Dorado NF opening up tomorrow.

I saw that.
Actually, I have no real excuse because the mountains are in my backyard now! LOL!

I'm in the process of moving to Central Point, Oregon. Our new place is in escrow right now, so we're currently at an extended stay at the foot of Mt. Ashland.

So I'm literally only 1 mile from the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest!

I was debating whether to start a new thread for this or which thread to discuss it in, but...

9.5" ground clearance

2021 4runner has 9-9.6" ground clearance

Lighter, faster, and probably a smoother ride than a 4runner, with a better engine / fuel economy, equivalent ground clearance, and just as big an aftermarket for modding...

...I think Subaru's got a future winner here. Also, "first of our Wilderness family" implies the Crosstrek and Forester will likely get similar treatment.

The Outback attracted me back in the day, but I test drove one and found it fairly underpowered.

I think the modern ones seem to be getting much bigger than the earlier models.

Checklistwise, this looks ok, I don't care for the styling. With the modern electronics, the need for differentials is less, but doesn't look like this has a low gear mode.

Still I'm sure it's quite capable.

I believe their X mode is the low gear mode added in the Wilderness package for light crawling.

I wouldn’t be to hyped on that scooby being a competitor to the 4 runner. It might have similar ground clearance but approach and departure angles will ultimately negate that. With that said we just got an outback and I would trade it in for this version in a heartbeat. It would make a great family hauler and when I want to go hunting and fishing I’ll just take my Tacoma.

A buddy of mine just picked up new Forester. I gave him so much shit for his lesbo-mobile of course but I'm actually quite impressed with it (just don't tell him that).

We’ve had three Subaru (wife outback and forester, me Impreza RS) all good cars.

Had to share this video. Perfectly captures what it is I love about desert landscapes and overlanding.

I'm loving the Alpha Wolf trucks. The standard looks frickin sick, and the plus looks like something I'd actually buy if they could get the range up closer to 500 miles.

This thing is the shit. Maybe not best suited for pure overlanding since it'd need charging, and ultimately breaking away to some sort of civilization for it. But for a weekend of hunting or whatever, it looks awesome.

Thanks for the share! The sounds that guy is getting in his vid are pretty remarkable! I love the desert, and I especially love the landscapes Utah has to offer :love

I knew that was Factory Butte...it's a crazy place to ride if you ever find yourself out there with a bike...

Ehh. I'll get excited if I actually see those renders on the road. Every few months somebody starts up a new electric truck company with all the snazzy features but so far they've all just been vaporware. Like where's the Rivian? I have yet to see one rolling on the road.

Being that much closer to Utah, and all the other deserts, is really one of the things I'm most looking forward to with regards to my move to Las Vegas.

I know.. But I have seen a Rivian on the road. The SUV, though. No trucks yet. We are living in exciting times, if we can manage to get through all our bullshit and just work on making life cool for everyone

Needed a temporary check-out from life this past weekend so off I went to Nevada on a solo adventure.

We really need to build a wall on these borders. Controls are flimsy at best...

He looks unhappy because he knows loud noises are about to happen. Wanted to test this rifle at 500+ yards.
