After working at Jackson arms on/off since 2011 all i can say that the ar-15 platform is fun. I have shot/tried various forms at the range and other areas. I like it for what it is and i "assembled" a budget build that does the job for me.
Last time i went to Sunnyvale, i saw a ton more .308s which i do want as my next rifle build. That day i was the only AR without an optic and shooting iron sights and with a carry handle. Everyone stared at it lol but it got the job done. People say you need chrome lined or heavy barrel but fuck when do you actually shoot that many rounds through it to notice, when does your barrel even get that hot using 10 round mags.
As usual, its one of those things were former military, enthusiasts, etc bicker and get salty about one thing or another. I feel like people get too much into the damn politics and specs of the gun that they forget to enjoy it. That analogy is in respects to all shit that i like to do (cars, bicycles, motorcycles, photography, cooking, etc etc.)

True story I was shooting at LAX down in So. Cal and a guy brings in his fancy AR with all the bells and whistles. He takes two shots, stops and starts staring at his scope for like 10 straight minutes while nervously looking around.
I step out of my lane and say hey man you need some help? He gets this really odd look on his face and goes my red dot isn't working. I go did you co witness your sight?....He looks at me like I spoke another friggin language and doesn't answer so I go back to shooting.
He sits there for about 20 more minutes fiddling with it, packs up and takes off....Dude! Take you're optics off and keep shooting! Its not like the rifle is broken
