In other news, to see another fine example of the bed-wetter's hyperbole and irrational fear about guns, see:

Mayor: Gun legislation 'a slap in the face'
Bills would overturn D.C.'s 30-year ban
http://www.dcexaminer.com/articles/2005/06/28/top_news/01top29guns.txt

"What is truly amazing about the gun safety repeal bill is that any member of Congress would desire to introduce gun and pawn shops here, which could then sell assault weapons like AK-47s, in the capital of the United States, in the post-9/11 era, while we still have checkpoints in our streets stopping people to see if they are terrorists," Norton said. "Who will take responsibility for a bill that would allow legal ownership of an M-16 by a person who might later go to the roof of an office or apartment building and take aim at federal targets, visitors and officials?"

Are they completely ignorant of the fact that AK-47s and M-16s are banned machine guns? It's also kinda funny that apparently, the AK-47 is the only name of a gun that they know. Like when people call every sportbike a "Ninja" :laughing

Here's some news releases from NSSF about the proposed legislation to put serial numbers on all ammo:

Manufacturers Say Measure is Unfeasible

RESPONSE TO ATTORNEY GENERAL LOCKYER'S PRESS CONFERENCE AND TESTIMONY IN SUPPORT OF SB 357 (SEN. DUNN) BULLET SERIALIZATION

Do you think we could have Lockyer and Dunn prosecuted under the new law prohibiting lying to the legislature?

I was planning on going to this, but I've just spent about $3k on new guns in the last two weeks. I'll post pics when I pick them up. Should be some pretty good deals there though.

Ratters did you pick up a USP?

Um, well haven't picked that one up yet. I'm meeting somebody around middle of July to pick one up. That'll push me well over the 3k mark. That's the last one for a while though. Seriously. I can stop any time I want.

OK, maybe after a nice bolt action .22 and an o/u. ;)

I thought saw your posts splattered around ar15.com's EE and calguns.net! :laughing

I pick up my HK P2000 (9mm) on Friday. :teeth

I did it! After months deliberating and shooting nearly every gun at Reed's, I finally got my first pistol. I want to thank you guys for your helpful insight and advice.

I went with the Glock for several reasons, but mainly: 1) price/quality ratio 2) feel. I chose 9mm so I can practice for alot less money than say, 45ACP ammo.

even though I am not a huge fan of the Glock, good choice for first handgun

congrats

I just picked up my HK P2000. :)

Gotta practice trigger control, but I think I just need to change the backstrap to get my finger around a bit more.

that, however also get the Hogue wrap-around with the finger grooves. Added one to mine and really enhances the feel... you'll need to start with a smaller back-strap though :thumbup

bwahahahah i just picked up my glock 19 too maybe thats a 17?

Yep, the Glock 19. I wanted something I could use for CCW when I eventually get it.

Now all I've gotta do is find a range around here. I went to one today to check on their rates. $15/person (regardless of lane sharing) and you buy their ammo. Annual membership of ~$160 drops that fee a bit, but you're still buying their expensive ammo.

$11 for a box of 9mm :wow

I'll keep looking.

I was reading on one of the other gun boards, living up here you can apparently go into the forest and shoot all on your own.
:sniper

I'll have to look into that more.

Make sure you scout around that forest for a couple miles before you set up a target to shoot at :laughing

"Breaking news: Three dead and two seriously wounded after forest shooting incident."
