BARF Militia

9mm pistol for $99.99 :wow

Most of those should make they're way into the hood

heads up on Reed's pricing for their yearly sale. Some prices might be really good, others not so. For instance last year looked at a safe about a month prior to their sale, knew they had a huge summer sale, so waited. Same safe at the sale was priced retail $500 MORE than the price I got a month earlier, so the "savings" weren't real, the 'sale' price was really the everyday price. I even called them on it. Reaction? A shrug.

Just be sure you know what the going price is for any big ticket item. (guns, safes, etc)

Can anyone tell how much the Benelli M1 Tactical is going for? I can't make out the amount in the ad.

Hmm, SureFire will have a rep(s) there. . .I may go down to have them look at my Aviator (damaged o-ring at the lens cap and a cracked lens).

probably around 850-900

might be selling mine. interested? :teeth

pic up tomorrows Mercury, usually ads in the Thurs sports section

I just want to say I'm thinking about picking up a new rifle this weekend.

That is all.

Go about your business citizens.

Any hints about which one?

I just picked up the new Guns 2005 Buyer's Guide, and am tempted by the new Remington 673 in .308.

Another fun day at the range. Took out a friend who had never previously shot a gun ever in his life. He did pretty well, and enjoyed himself and wants to go again. And is thinking about picking himself up a pistol.

I made him purchase his own ammo too. So he would understand some of the expensive, he got to shoot .40 S&W, .223, 7.62x54R, and .22LR. So he had a good taste of calibers ranging from small to fairly large. He preferred shooting the .40 pistol, and the .22LR. Nothing like getting a friend involved. :teeth

I meant expense, not expensive. However, I try not to shoot anything to cheap in my weapons. Got a brick of 500 for $11, 50 rounds of 40 for $9, 20 rounds of 7.62 for $5 (range legal IE non-steel core), and a box of 20 rounds of .223 for $3. So all in all not expensive, just the idea of expense, which can get expensive if you shoot like I do. 400 rounds of 40, 300 of .223, 300 of 7.62, and 500+ of .22LR everytime I go out. I make a range day a mini vacation.

for handguns, you need a handgun safety certificate, which is valid for five years. Not to own, but to purchase. In other words, you need it to buy a gun, but you can let it expire after five years and still own the gun, you just can't buy any more pistols until you renew.

You don't need to start out on the ninja 250 of guns (a .22LR Ruger Mark series, or Walther P22). You can get a really good 9mm for ~$400, that's like a really newbie-friendly 600 :laughing An F2, perhaps.

You're going to have to attend one of our range events so you can try people's stuff. Ask 10 people which gun you should get and you'll get 10 different answers. You'll have to make up your own mind.

This brokeass college student's next purchase will be a CZ-75B :cool Forget the Glock, it's like a SV650, every newb is getting one, especially now that they've figured out they can get it with full fairings for ultra posage :rolleyes :p

. . . how long does it take to go through a box of bullets? yearly licensing for owner and/or registration fees (ala DMV)?
how long depends on how avid a shooter you are. I have been known to go through 500 rounds (just one gun) a range visit. If I am shooting a lot that particular day I can go through 500+ rounds easy.
i saw in CSI some dude had a reloader. put some ground beef into the casing rather than lead/whatever froze it and killed some dude. sounds like a possible TCG member to me. how much those costs? probably not something a true marksman would use but for the guy that just wants to shoot stuff up?
using meat, even frozen isnt all that practical.
reloaders run from a couple hundred dollars to near a thousand, depending on how blinged out a setup you want. Problem withe reloading is the break-even point. You need to shoot A LOT for it to be a cost saver. Most reload for the challenge of creating the most accurate round possible, or one that performs best.
Many Marksman do in fact reload. There are so many variables in getting a particular rifle/handgun to shoot just so, that sometimes the best way is to roll your own.
anyone wanna let me try out some handguns? i can start on the "ninja 250 of guns" i don't need no .45 dirty harry cannon to have fun nowadays. in my teens ya, i'd say hook me up wit dem uzi's and mactizzle's y0 but maybe i should start on like a derringer or something :D

safety courses? i live 10min. away from jackson arms, guess i should ask em? maybe in the far future...will just turn into another hobby i can't afford. :cry :(

i wantz a glock so i can be deh villenz in da moveez |\/|473!1one anz a berretta fo' smokin' dem baddies like mel gibsonzizzle y0!

yeah, go to the nex BARF Range day. Those that are there are more than willing to let you shoot what they bring. Sometimes we have them at the indoor ranges (targetmasters or Reeds) other times at outdoor ranges. Chabot (castro valley area) or Metcalf (San Jose)

Any interest in an East Bay range day?

Anyone interested in a range day at the United Sportsman range in Concord?
The range is just off of hwy 4 between Concord and Pittsburg. It's an outdoor range, cost is $13 for as long as you want to shoot.
