P238 is great shooter BUT it's a manual safety 1911. I dont want to fumble with a safety in a situation like that. You're a big guy, no 380s. Shield 9mm or LC9 or for heft a Kahr 9mm.

I want to stop buying guns something always seems to comes up, there is no more room in the safe and hopefully this past weeks purchase (Gen 4 Glock 30) will be the last! I made a deal with myself, if I buy something new, I need to sell something I have. Worth noting this last purchase is really more of something I needed than something I wanted.

Same boat! I bought a CZ 85 Combat. Great shooter but not totally in love with it.....still cant convince myself to sell it though :laughing

Jelly, I was out there for some work training and wandered into Gander mountain because my co-worker was looking for a rain coat. 2nd floor of that place was the gun shop and it was fff'n STACKED. I could have stayed in there for hours. :wow

I shoot it well and about a 1/3 of my training was with a 1911 so it's not foreign to me. Tried to like the shield (since I had 2 M&Ps) but just don't like the trigger and I don't think Apex can fix it enough. Trying to not like the Kimber Ultra RCP II...or the Glock 42...or a dozen other things I couldn't get in CA.

Would you believe the Gander Mountains are average gun shops in the area? :wow Hell, I can rent machine guns at the local ranges and they have a couple hundred rentals. While, I'm not sold on MN (yet), I gotta love the gun environment! 3-gun, clays, hunting, etc. Woo hoo! Ask me how I feel in Feb about 3 months of freezing weather :|

I'm now exposed to ALL kinds of awesome stuff we can't get in CA. For now, I'm focused on conceal pistols (inexpensive, a new challenge to shoot, etc). Trying to be responsible for ZERO day wait on purchases and a credit card... :teeth

not to add to the indecision, but any reason the P938 Sig isn't on the list? very close in size to the 238, and it's 9mm vs .380

I've narrowed it down to 9mm and 380 and now need to go rent them and see how I like them. I would prefer to avoid DAO but I'll make an exception if it's great (I'm looking at you Boberg).

- P938 (FIL has one, like it)
- P238 (FIL has one, like it)
- Kahr (not sure which ones to try yet)
- Kimber Ultra RCP II
- Glock 42 (liked it, was accurate)
- Shield (thought I'd like it, was meh, same bad trigger as the fullsizers even with an Apex kit)

If I'm going DAO
- Kimber Solo (not sure what to make of the initial bad reports)
- Boberg (want to ship to MN Roman?)
- LCR 9mm

Lots to look at and shoot - looking forward to trying them all out. Next up is the holster...

What weaponry is suggested, I can bring two .45s and a couple of long sticks. :party

I can tolerate DiFi, swap to Schumer, Durbin, Franken, Boxer, etc. and I'll be happy. DiFi is on the NatSec committee and does occasional good work.

Bring what ever you like except for a shotgun since there no clinic for it. Just make sure you have holsters for them pistols.

Plus there maybe a BARF celebrity will be on the shoot. ;)
