:thumbup Glad it works. We put Susan's Ameetec together last night and this morning. Some of the roll pins were a pita but it went together mostly pretty easy. Thank god for arfcom, the guides there were really helpful.
 
Have any other M44 owner had problems with Winchester 7.62 x 54R cartridges?

First time to the range with my new M44, the Winchester cases were split at the neck after firing. First I though the headspace on the rifle must be off, but then I shot the cheap surplus ammo and had no problems.

Just got home ant looked at the other box of unfired Winchester cartridges, and noticed that 6 of the 20 cartridges have thin cracks in the necks.

Is this just a bad batch... or should I stick with the cheap ammo.
 
Hmmm, I've only ever used surplus. Why not put through it what it was designed to use? ;) Yeah, probably a bad batch. Contact Winchester as they like to hear about this stuff.

Well, here's the gf's birthday present: Built it up over the weekend. Has a fixed 10rd Bushy magazine. Ameetec M4 kit over an Ameetec lower. Build took a while due to being tired, watching a movie, and trying really hard not to scratch the receiver. The aluma black pens come in real handy. ;) Came out not too bad I think though.

im down to go boar hunting, only thing that keeps me from going every weekend is lack of someone willing to go with.

i especially want to go if its raining, better chance i think, cuz they wont hear me monkey stomping around and run away.

Ben, I'll be in SJ this upcoming weekend, if you're down for a hunt, I got 7.62, I got 12ga, I got .357 Mag, we could run it. I'd just have to go cop a hunting licence and some pig tags at Bizzle Fizzle (EZ)
 
Hell, if I get my mag in time, I'll bring the AK! :laughing JK though..I still need to rivet four places.

But yeah, I actually don't have a suitable rifle at this time. My Yugo Mauser is having light primer strikes, my SKS has a bent firing pin that causes it to jam/slamfire sometimes (tried hammering it straight, too late, need a new one), the AK needs rivets, the AR needs a complete rifle kit (not that I'd hunt pig with .223 :laughing...just about the only thing that will work reliably is my $75 Russian workhorse, the M44 :cry :blush I guess I could always bring the Mossberg with rifled slugs.

i dont see anything wrong with shooting a pig with .223, we shoot people with it, and how can anyone tell me that a freaking arrow is more humane than a .223 bullet.
plus i aint going for trophy pig, fuck hauling anything over 150lbs,

Well, wild pigs/boar have that giant plate in their skull right above the ocular cavity. I've heard of even .30cal not penetrating it.
 
Yeah, I'm waiting to hear from my friends father. He has acreage out there. He and the neighbors have problematic pigs.

My .50 upper is spoda be here in may. So, I hope to go kill some bacon around then. I also hope I can bring some folks with me.
 
How much work is it to get a hunting license? I could bring out my mini-30 and bust a cap in that pig.

Take the hunters safety course. I have an old ass one, so I just show that and get a new one.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea for me to take it again. I'm sure half the safety stuff is outdated. :laughing
 
walk into a big 5 or walmart, tell them you want a license, and lost your card. they will give it to you..


hunters saftey course is a scam by the antigunners to take away your money and to ruin to sport. if it was legit, they would keep records of who has a HSC card and who doesnt,. but they dont.

since i know you took the handgun saftey course, you already know more than what youll learn in hunters safety course

im not saying you should do that, but you "could"
