Assault rifle' is a term describing a type of automatic rifle generally defined as a selective fire rifle or carbine, chambering intermediate-powered ammunition.

Scroll down to the bottom of that article:

"Assault weapons" vs. Automatic weapons

Primarily in the United States, the term assault weapon is an arbitrary (and politicized) phrase generally used to describe a variety of semi-automatic firearms that have certain, mostly cosmetic features associated with military/police use. [...] The term 'assault weapon' is frequently used erroneously to describe machine guns. Many states and localities still use the term assault weapon with a handful of variations following the California model loosely.

Mike, you're not drawing a distinction between assault weapon and assault rifle, they're two separate things.

Assault weapon is a politicized term for a semi-auto rifle with certain features, while assault rifle refers to a military-grade weapon chambered in an intermediate cartridge.

That's because I wasn't talking about assault rifles!

Welp, looks like all of us off list lower people may be fuxored. Interesting how they are trying to rewrite the regulations after the fact, but whatever. I figured this was always a possibility.

Of course everyone's going nuts over on calguns. Frankly, it's only a memo, have to wait to see what regulations actually come out.

Eh, they can't change the definition of "fixed magazine" without court intervention. In the end, they were told what the rules of the game were, but they decided not to do their job, so now we took advantage of it, and they want to change the rules because they fucked up :laughing On top of that, they don't want to do their job.

I look forward to a court telling them to a) list, and b) retain the current definition of fixed magazine

:cool

Well another load of poo from them; nothing new. Just wonder if all SKS's will be evil aswell, since it's easy to drop the fixed clip out of those.

Meh...

I'm still waiting for my upper.

My girlfriend was talking to her ex-boyfriend:
Him: Yeah, I love guns, they're so cool
Her: My boyfriend has a ton of guns
Him: Oh yeah? Does he have an SKS?
Her: Yeah, I like shooting his SKS.
Him: :wtf OK, I bet he doesn't have an AK though
Her: Yeah, he does, that's a cool one, too.

:laughing

Think you could keep up?

:twofinger

I'm trying to find her a beginner pistol, something in .22LR to shoot..so many choices with all the Ruger Mark series and what not out there.

Hey, I could scrounge up some medication. :toothless

Besides, have you tried to keep up with a woman in their mid thirties? Now that's tough. ;)

Buckmark Camper. Best deal out there. And they run forever without cleaning. :teeth

If she wants something smaller the Walther P22 isn't bad. I just got the Sig Mosquito but haven't tried it out yet. Probably wouldn't have bought it if I'd read the reviews. Damn impulse purchases.

Interesting article:

Folk wisdom has more scientific rigor than we give it credit for. Your grandmother didn’t need a double-blind study to tell you that you should wash your hands after you go to the bathroom. And I don’t need some paper to tell me that a man will get a small hormonal buzz from getting to play with a gun while the guy next to him is stuck with a lame board game.
