BARF Militia

:teeth just wanted to share...

My dad has a KelTec P-11, I think the model is, and the trigger pull feels substantial and the travel is long. I'm not a big fan of that gun, though it is compact and inexpensive and reliable.

On the Glock however, AFAIK the striker is partially pre-tensioned so the pull does not need to supply all the energy. Pull is discretely adjustable by swapping a part intended for the purpose. Some people hate the feel of the Glock trigger, but I'm not one of them. I :love Glock, and I suspect the feeling is mutual.

I think the bottom line, Tom, is that the likelihood of needing to fire your CCW in the heat of the moment is very small, whereas the likelihood of defusing a situation by displaying the weapon, though still small, is a fair bit larger. The trick then is to get a comfortable setup going so you aren't tempted to leave it behind and end up empty handed when SHTF. Ubiquity and consistency > firepower, IMHO.

Might buy one sometime next year for a second pistol. I mean shit, next thing you know they will start banning .44 Mag! :p

Sucks, cause at Target Masters in the LEO only case, the last time I was there they had a used DE for $750. I need to start making some LEO friends. :teeth

Yeah, that back showcase is the LEO only case. It's all guns not on the safe list. :(

Good points, all. There are several reasons for needing a new weapon. One is to carry at all times, another is for snowmobiling. Going out into the wild, I like to take a weapon with me in case I run across a wild animal or a dumb-ass animal. Also, in the unlikely event that I become stranded, I would like to have something to shoot small game with. During the summer, I also want something to take into the back country for day trips for the same reasons.

So, being able to shoot quickly, accurately and have some intimidation value are all necessary requirements for the weapon. I might have to try the glock.

i think youre talkin about the one next to where they sell the rifles and shotguns...theres another showcase that has DEs in the back...like..when right when you walk in, go to the right and keep walking to near the rear and look left..theres a display of pistols and theres a DE there *unless they moved it since ive been there*

If you really want a DE, just watch calguns, you can get them for less than $750. I got mine for less of a fellow barfer.

How many rounds have you actually put down the pipe on that thing? Sounds like a ton of fun. :|

So, here is my current dilema. Dad gave me his 10 year old ruger which was dirty. The stock is OK, pretty banged up though. And the barrel seems rusted on the outside and the inside is probably shit. I cleaned up the receiver and trigger assembly real good, works smooth now! But, I think even it is missing one part or something, the back receiver pin..

Anyway, my dilemma is this:

1. Buy synth stock and ss barrel, which are both from a stock gun on Calguns for $60.

OR

2. Buy a green mountain 20" bull barrel in SS and put it in a Hogue overmold stock. $200.

Thoughts? Will I notice a difference in the way it shoots?
