BARF Militia

So, I have decided that I need a different carry weapon. I currently have a Ruger .40 but the thing is to big and heavy to carry routinely.

So, I have decided to get a new one. I am thinking a 9mm would be a good size. The frames can be small and light and the slug is big enough to have a reasonable stopping power.

What do you all think?

I wish I even had the option of thinking of this dilemma.

I can't speak to Kahr's reliability, etc., as I have never owned one. . .but, I really like their triggers.

I've only shot the full steel models (which may be a tad heavy for EDC), but the new polymer/steel may be an option.

As mentioned, you probably can't go wrong with a sub-compact Glock or even a G19.

That's a no brainer. Show me another pistol with 30 round mags that fit completely in the magwell and the ability to pierce body armor from 50 yards.

The goal of a self defense weapon is not to pierce armor, you want expansion and penetration. I wonder how the 5.7 would compare to larger rounds like the 9mm or .40 in this regard.

Cool gun though.

Okay, how's this scenario... A crazed Loomis security guard is driving towards you in a 4 ton armored truck. Everyone else's 9mm's are bouncing off of the windshield like bugs. Now what? :laughing

Fine. Then my second suggestion if you want penetration and expansion is this:

Maybe that L.A. bank robbery wouldn't have lasted so long if they had SMG with the 5.7x28 round.:thumbup

The cost of rounds for the FNs chambered for it would be killer. More than $20 for a 50 round box.:wow

My two AR lowers came home today. I think tomorrow I'll lower the boom on an upper assembly. I'm leaning towards Fulton's offerings, but I might go with an Armalite.

Happy New Year everyone.

Though the Kel-tec 9 isn't a bad little pistol.

Is the Glock or Kel-tec dual-action? I want to be able to have a round in the chamber but not have a significant chance of it going off in my pocket. In addition, if I need to use it I don't want to have to take the time to pull the slide.

I thought the M&P was raved about for that feature. I just didn't like the ergos.
