BARF Militia

2) The HK USP is one of the best looking pistols out there but I don't like how it shoots.

Same here - I think the USP and 1911 are two of the coolest looking guns, but I don't like shooting them.

3) I'm MUCH more accurate with the Buchmark and MK III. But I didn't like shooting them. Seemed like cheating if a guy like me (ie - shitty marksman) can hit the bullseye for a few 10 round mags at 15 yards. It just wasn't that much and I'd have a hard time spending money on a .22lr

You're forgetting there's three components to accuracy:

- you
- the gun
- the ammo

So if you and a Buckmark are accurate, and you can shoot it well into small groups, then maybe you are not the problem. Maybe your XD9 is ugly AND inaccurate, or maybe the ammo you're shooting in the XD9 is highly inaccurate.

Besides, the fun of a .22 isn't just being able to shoot accurate with it, it's going for even smaller groups than you'd normally shoot, and shooting 500 rounds for $10. :party

Man - you *really* don't like those XD's do ya? :laughing

So, an ugly gun is an inaccurate gun? I didn't know that... :p

You're right, but I'm pretty sure I'm the weak link of the three (me, gun, ammo). I was shooting the bulk Winchster stuff and, aside frommy typical first round flyer, I was reasonably accurate (much better than the last time we went). I could move the target back more and I'm sure the .22 would be more of a challenge. I did instanly appreciate decent sights with high-viz dots on them -- the ruger I rented had horrible and hard to see sights...

I just question how much help the .22 would be for my 9mm. It seems that I just need to shoot the 9mm more to become more accurate...

Maybe a Kimber 1911 and an Advantage Arms .22 conversion is just what I need...

If I go just .22, I'll pick up this pistol:

Shit - I dunno!

I know - I just don't like the feel of the 22/45 - it doesn't mimic the 1911 grip to me. It seems to have the same angle but the thickness and lack of grip safety are way off IMO. The MK III Competition and Hunter have a nice ergo grip that is VERY comfortable...

And I'm still not sold on a 1911 - I like the idea but not enough to actually buy one :laughing

There are MANY good guns out there that I would be happy with...

:p hehe i see a grip safety from a 1911 and the glock trigger safety....jeebus..kinda says something about cha dont you think Roxy? :p

(shes DANGEROUSSSSS!!!) :p hehe jk

Very nice!

It's a 9mm:)

Might get a chance to play with it today.

Yay! About time :laughing

Don't listen to that Zefflyn - he wouldn't know pretty if it raped him. :twofinger

I'm starting to wish I had picked up the tactical for the longer barrel....

My TLR-2 should arrive tomorrow and now I'm looking into stripping the black paint off a few of the parts to make it a little more custom for me (trigger, grip safety, control levers, etc) so it looks like this:

Spend some time at XDtalk.com and then the various XD parts folks:
- xdgear.com
- pistolgear.com
- xdguys.com

After ALL that XD talk, I went to pick up a MK III tonight and settled on the Buckmark. It felt MUCH better in my hand and I can upgrade the sights for a bitching plinker. I *really* hate that gold trigger so I'll probably take my dremel to it and make it satin and duracoat it...

BUT I forgot that I didn't update my truck registration so it's a no-go with the DOJ. Doh! :blush I want to go to Bulleye in Castro Valley this weekend anyway...

Trying to polish a turd, eh? :p

What, they wouldn't sell it to you with outdated registration? I've always been able to bring in the proof of residency when I pick up the gun, if I didn't have it when I was doing the purchase.

In case you missed it...

PUTPUT's completely biased cliff notes of the transcript.

Dellinger for DC: 2A keeps Fed Army (US Const. Article 1, Section 8) and States can regulate Militia (People can have what the state says)
SC: Oh really?

Dellinger for DC: Bans are OK if you don’t ban everything (Rifles, Shotguns still allowed). That’s reasonable.
SC: Oh really?

Dellinger for DC: The Heller decision repealed all gun laws.
SC: Oh really?

Dellinger for DC: We’ve reversed our interpretation that DC citizens can’t defend themselves. Now they can if they can assemble and load their gun fast enough.
SC: WTF?

Dellinger for DC: See, you can have a rifle or shotgun, locked up and if you get a license, you can even take it to the shooting range!
SC: Just suppose it’s an individual right can you ban handguns? “Well regulated” means “Well Trained” not “Massively Regulated”?
Dellinger for DC: DC can ban handguns cause our militia doesn’t need them.
SC: Thanks for your time.

Gen Clement for DC: 2A guarantees an individual right to own guns.
SC: You guys are a real mess! We’ll help prove that it is an individual right.

Gen Clement for DC: 2A unlike the rest of the Bill of Rights, should be held to a standard and not strict scrutiny.
SC: Oh Really?
Gen Clement for DC: Yup and that means that states can make gun laws like banning felons possession.
SC: And handguns?
Gen Clement for DC: Yup.
SC: But with a disassembled rifle you can protect yourself?
Gen Clement for DC: Yup, we’ll just write a bunch of laws that cover every scenario where you can and can’t have it assembled.

Gen Clement for DC: Oh and it’s not a complete ban. If you had a pistol before 1976, you get to keep it!
SC: Thanks for your time.

Gura for Heller: All 50 states allow people to defend themselves with handguns.
SC: We’re old talk slower.

Gura for Heller: DC had lots of opportunity to be reasonable and spell out when you can have your weapon assembled.
SC: OK but, if owning a firearm is militia related, how is banning handguns bad.
Gura for Heller: Yes, the army uses them and so would a militia and no one would be trained up.

SC: OK does the militia part of 2A matter?
Gura for Heller: You betcha cause the Miller case tried to tell us what kind of arms we can have and next the congress will try to tell us who can be in a militia. Militia is a reason for 2A but not the only reason.
SC: Now we’ll take a few moments to help you make that argument.

Gura for Heller: In Keeping with Miller, people can have guns that are for civilian use so banning machine guns and rocket launchers is OK.
SC: Miller was deficient.
Gura for Heller: Yup. But, you gotta use common sense.
SC: Word!

SC: In the early days, states and towns banned guns or how you store them. What’s with that.
Gura for Heller: They used common sense to say that you couldn’t keep a keg of gunpowder next to you fireplace but that didn’t stop people from being ready for militia duty or protecting themselves.
SC: Common sense!

SC: 2A doesn’t mention self defense.
Gura for Heller: It didn’t need to it’s a Gawd given right!

SC: There was a lot of controversy over 2A when written.
Gura for Heller: Yup, they wanted to protect the peoples rights and not be redundant and stuff.

SC: Trigger locks suck!
Gura for Heller: Yup, get a gun safe!
SC: OK but, do you want a bunch of judges to decide which is better?
Gura for Heller: They won’t have to cause DC is the only place with that kind of law. They just have to focus on fundamental rights.

SC: What about licensing?
Gura for Heller: Licensing is OK if it’s purpose is not to impede.

SC: Is it “not to be infringed” or “not to be unreasonable infringed”?
Gura for Heller: There is that aspect to every Amendment. What’s unreasonable? It’s reasonable to ban felons.
SC: Is it reasonable to consider DC crime wave with handguns?
Gura for Heller: You have to have the facts. Heller won’t stand, there’s killers on the loose with handguns.
SC: Better buy a handgun!
Gura for Heller: HELL YA!
SC: Thanks for your time.

Dellinger for DC: Our law is reasonable!
SC: How long does it take to remove a gun lock and to load it?
Dellinger for DC: Locks are an option. You can disassemble or have it locked while loaded.
SC: WTF. Just answer the question.
Dellinger for DC: Me? 3 seconds!
SC: In the dark without your glasses with a madman punching your face? Pushaw!
Dellinger for DC: OK, OK! Just let us keep the handgun ban part!

SC: Did you consider self defense in this law? Why’s it so full of stuff?
Dellinger for DC: Cause it’s a state right or local right and not intended for national scrutiny. You can still have a rifle if the militia calls.
SC: Thanks for your time.

Dang it, how come I never have this kind of luck?

http://www.reuters.com/article/oddlyEnoughNews/idUSL1991690720080319

BERLIN (Reuters) - A stroller sold in an Internet auction in Germany came complete with a deadly plaything -- a pistol loaded with six bullets.

A young couple from the northern town of Verden found the 9 mm Sig Sauer pistol in a side pocket of the pram after collecting it from nearby Hamburg.
