BARF Militia

:thumbup That's what it's all about.

I don't like the .357 Sig round either, well for recreational shooting, anyway, and particularly when it's in the lane next to me.

Last time Kim and I went to Target Masters I rented their Glock in .357sig. Oh good lord that was an unpleasant experience. Shooting a 229 or 239 in .357 isn't bad though.

I just curious if anyone here has direct military experience with shooting someone with a 9mm and then had them get back up? I've read several accounts of this going on but I'd be curious if we had any 1st hand accounts, if it's not to tacky to ask anyway. :)

The problem with the military 9mm is they use 115gr ball ammo. Ball ammo in any calliber sucks.

9mm is a great round as long as you use quality hp's. 124gr hp are great. Good velocity and energy. Make them +p's and you have 357 mag velocities.

.50 bmg ball is quite awesome :)

The U.S. M33 .50 BMG military load uses a 668 grain FMJ-BT bullet with a muzzle velocity of 2910 fps and 12,550 ft. lbs of energy. The U.S. M2 military load uses a 720 grain FMJ-BT bullet at a velocity of 2810 fps and 12,600 ft. lbs of energy. So ummm ya it is quite awsome and NO comparison to a 9mm.

Just think how much more effective anti personel weapon the M4 would be with HP's :devil

:twofinger

Looks good to me, solid cast too! :thumbup

Man, I've kinda been itching to get a cowboy revolver of some kind, like an 1873 or something...

The Ubertis are cool and pretty cheap. I have a Ruger Vacquero myself. The thing I love about that one is I have .45lc and .45acp cylinders for it.

I will eventually buy a Henry Rep in 45lc and a Vaquero to match.

It's too bad Birdman shut down his website. He had some funny stuff there.

So, I was able to hold Ratters G35 on Saturday and it felt nice - real nice! I hadn't held the competition models and I do like the slide and mag releases much better than the other "regular" glocks I had held before. So, now I need to determine if I want a G34 or a CZ 75 SP-01. I would want the .22 conversion (Kadet for the CZ, and the Advantage Arms for the Glock) but now I can decide which one I want! Only one way to find out - go shoot em! I'll be spending more quality time with a CZ and I need to find a place with the Glock...

I'm sure Zefflyn is already preparing his "ugly gun" response :laughing

Listen to Zefflyn and buy them both. :thumbup

I haven't had any direct experience with the .22 conversion kits, but from what I've read about various kits, they're not as good as a pistol designed to be a .22 from the get go. Many kits require a lot of lubrication to work correctly. Lots of lube + .22LR = PITA to clean. Just something to think about.

I just purchased some more goodies from ammoman! Looks like i'll be headed to range in the next couple of weeks! I've been buying the Winchester 124gr 9mm nato. Anyone else have opinions on other brands to buy? i'm curious if american eagle is any good? As well as what all of you think.

Oh yeah, has anyone purchased a firearm from "gunbroker"? I've seen a couple of good deals, but it seems kinda complicated to arrange the transfer and all that stuff. Just wondering if it's worth the hassle if any at all.

American Eagle is good blaster ammo. I've used .45 and .223 with no issues. I'm a horrible shot, so I can't really speak to accuracy compared to other brands.

I have bought 1 receiver off of Gunbroker. The only problem with buying from GB is you have to find an FFL here to transfer it. The cost to do an internet transfer is usually $100-$150 including DROS. Add in shipping costs (usually $30-$50) and any savings you may have had by buying online is quickly eaten up.

Well, I went to shoot the CZ 75 and Glock 34 tonight and I learned a lot. Again.

I like the lower bore axis of the Glock compared to my XD9. And the longer barrel sure is nice (1.3" longer). The grip still isn't perfect for my hand (too blocky) bit it's a nice pistol. I don't like the trigger and the G34 supposedly has the factory trigger work done (1lb less trigger pull).

The CZ felt very nice in the hands and shot well. The extra weight of the steel is good at softening the recoil. I don't like the rubber grips like I thought I would and the finish on the CZ sucks. I checked out 3 of the new ones and they all had "paint" issues. One had chipped near the extractor, one had coverage problems on the slide around the barrel breech, and one has a few nicks taken out. I wasn't impressed with the finish on the CZ but, hey, that's why it's only $600 right?

So, I'm not in love with any of these just yet to make a purchase....

:teeth Don't you know it!

It's kind of a hassle, but not all that bad. You first have to win the auction, adn then the seller will e-mail you his fax number. You take that to your gun dealer, and have him fax a copy of his license to the seller, then the seller mails the gun to your dealer, and then you go buy it like a normal gun buy, except that you mailed the money to the seller.

Yeah... so it's only worth the hassle if it's a really good price, or a hard-to-find gun.

I'm sure Zefflyn is already preparing his "ugly gun" response :laughing

Those are both all good, and the AA kits are slick too, as long as you don't get the "target" sights - they stick up WAY high.
