BARF Militia

Niiiiiiiiiiiiice:cool

I love the Butterfly stand...very appropriate:laughing

Here's my new GP100!

.357, 6" barrel, blued, Hogue "tamer" grip and I think she looks bitchin...

Nice revolver! I have a 6" stainless S&W 686 6-shot from my dad...gotta round out the collection, of course!

Plethora? :laughing

Hardly...

I still want a 1911 and a .22 plinker right away...but I still want an USP, a .44 mag revolver, and I haven't even started on the long guns... :wow

I wouldn't last long against the zombies...

Enough with the pistols. Like my dad always taught me. "A pistol's only use is for fighting your way to a rifle." :laughing

Invest in an AK. It's a ton of fun, cheap, reliable, and a great zombie defense weapon. :thumbup

^you got a PM

:teeth

Can someone help me to understand 308 vs 7.62NATO

reading this, is it correct to say that you could shoot either round from either a milspec or non-milspec rifle, but you can't reload a casing fired from a milspec rifle?

I'd be careful shooting .308 in an older rifle designed for 7.62 as it's made at a higher case pressure. But most modern rifles should be able to handle it such as the M1a and AR10s. You can run the military stuff in anything though some semi hunting rifles may not cycle too well.

A good rule of thumb is you can shoot 7.62 out of a .308 but not vice versa. 5.56/.223 is the exact opposite. You can shoot .223 out of 5.56 but not vice versa.

From what I've read on FAL Files, you can shoot .308 out of a 7.62 barrel so long as it is headspaced correctly. I believe the .308 has a tighter headspace, but don't quote me on that.

Dude, now you're sounding like my mom. :laughing My AK (both) can go from neutered to un-neutered in less than 20 seconds. :thumbup

Dude, I'm just sayin! Seems the AK would be more of a pain to load from the top than an AR! I mean, sure, if you're just saving it for zombie day and it's easy to convert, that's one thing. But some of the pics I've seen with dudes and their AK's with 30-round magazines converted to 10, then welded in place, with a little slot and button on the side of the mag to make it easier to load by dropping rounds in through the ejection port... Nuh uh, homie don't play that. :laughing

Only one of mine is a top loader w/a 10 round lever mag to aid in loading (super easy). The set screw holding the mag in can be removed in about 20 seconds. The other has a Monsterman Grip. So technically that one is good to go with pre-ban mags. The grip can be swapped out pretty quickly.

But I don't really even want a rifle because it's more trouble for me to get to a range during daylight hours. But getting to a pistol range is very convenient for me - Reeds is 2 miles away and Target Masters is 3 miles away. I can shoot at Target Masters until midnight most nights. But the closest rifle range is Los Altos Hills? Chabot? Either option is hard to get to... So, until I *really* want to shoot a rifle, it's pistols for me!

Anyone know if I can pick up a .22 buckmark or Mark III at the Gun Show this weekend?

yeah, Mark II's and III's should be there. I've never liked the buckmark much.

I like the ruger 22/45 too. haha bull barrel .22 :laughing

Thanks Kris! I was on the fence about going and if I can pick up Buckmark (the take down and reassembly on the Mark IIIs scare me) for a decent price I'll show up!

It looks like it'll be the last gun show at the Cow Palace. Are there any other Bay Area venues that could (and would) host the gun shows?
