BARF Militia

I must be missing something because the grip and my flinch seem unrelated to me... I've been working on the flinch (which is just me anticipating the shot) vs my accuracy going down due to an improper grip/trigger squeeze.

What's the difference? Or is it just semantics?

Why not try calling John? He'd be able to tell you. I can't. I've fired a handgun only five times in my life (and sure, there were several handguns involved). But wait a few days, because I believe he mentioned he's busy in the first part of this week.

You could mention you were the one that I asked about flinching and for which he kindly demonstrated the act. He's kinda sweet on me so I imagine he hasn't forgottem me. Plus he showed up at yesterday's cone practice (and complained! :laughing). He's quite a character.

Does anyone have the Speer no. 14 reloading manual? I went to Reed's the other day to pick up a copy but they're fairly well cleaned out.

I need the COL for Speer's 55gr TNT in .223. I've been unable to find any data online for this bullet. If you have the book and wouldn't mind looking this up I would appreciate it.

Finally, has anyone seen the manual in stock locally (San Jose)? I'll order one online if not.

Thanks!

It's finally here!:banana

Here are some crapy picks I took with P&S. I'll get more latter when I find memory card for Canon.

Yep. it's in a very good condition. I'll try to get better pic of rifling latter.
Very clean rifle.

Five more days until handgun pick up.:party

:| Glad I'm not that guy.

Here's a still of his hand positions after he shot himself. The pistol is in his right hand.

I'm assuming that was a Glock 18, with a forgrip, and the forgrip failed?
Or has my ears failed me? I heard a burst at the end, and my eyes detected a "flapping" muzzle.

Yeap, word is the G18 had a Fobus VFG that failed. Supposedly that's the thing you see laying on the ground after he drops it.

yeah its the scoped combo. It seems a lot of people don't think highly of the rifle, but I have no complaints. The trigger not great and the stock is a little rough. the rifle is very accurate, and the scope works well. I can consistently break clays at 300 yards with the combo. If you are looking for a low priced, not cheep, dependable, accurate rifle I say give the ATR a try. After all it is the shooter and not the gun that makes the shot.

Late this afternoon I went to United Sportsmen, Inc. in Bay Point. Wanted to test my Buck Mark's sites, per USI Larry's suggestion of using the block; and wanted to try out the grip suggestions of John G. and Ed from last Saturday's Utah CCW class.

Well, the sites are perfect. And with John and Ed's suggestions in mind, my grip hold, shooting stance, and accuracy changed dramatically. So much so that I could slap on those fluorescent-green targets in different places on the big target and hit them separately at will.

I was so excited with my shooting accuracy that I used up all the cartridges I'd brought with me (maybe 200 rounds) and bought :cry a 500-round box there at the range. Neither Federal cartridges (.22 Value Pack and Gold Medal) left any greasy residue in my Ultimate Cliploader or in my Buck Mark, unlike those crappy American Eagle .22's I bought initially. I'm going to take up John G's suggestion and sell him the AE's. He says he likes to train his students to deal with FTFs and jams and the AE's will do the job just right.

Oh, BTW, Hi. :) First post here. Being an Endowment member of the NRA, this thread piqued my interest. I saw this question and since no one else spoke up yet, thought this would be a good introduction. :)

My name is Melody and it's been 8+ years since I last rode. My husband recently got into riding and since it's been so long (and I never did get my endorsement when I took the MSF the first time), I'm re-taking the MSF in September.

Needless to say from this posting (and NRA membership) I'm also into firearms and have been for a long time. In fact, got my husband into shooting though he's not quite the advocate that I am. In my personal list of arms are an S&W 910 (9mm), Les Baer TRS (.45 ACP), Remington 870 shotgun, AR-15 (CMMG lower & upper) with freefloating barrel and JP Enterprises single stage trigger (3.5 #), and a custom .308 built on a Remmy 700 short action w/ Mike Rock 5R barrel and Manners T2 stock. The .308 is a .25 MOA rifle. :) Shoots far better than I do.

Training wise I've trained with Louis Awerbuck of Yavapai Firearms Academy and also of Mike Miller of Tactical Intervention Specialists (precision rifle).

Anyway, hi :)

Mel
