I picked up my SKS yesterday....
...and like a good friend, I went to Ken's house to clean it

Don't worry Ken, everything I own now smells like cosmo and Hoppe's No.9
I was surprised at how easy it was to field-strip the thing completely..I mean, the only time a tool was needed was for removing the trigger assembly. Kickass.
So, this '59 model SKS got stripped, dipped in solvent, cleaned, dried, oiled, reassembled..and ended up looking somewhat better than when I got it. I ordered a better-looking Yugo wooden stock off Ebay, so I'll be sanding and clearcoating that soon
And now, for the pics:
You can see how the stock isn't very good..all banged up and such

But at least the metal parts are in very good shape
