Should I attempt to get the bolt open and clean it out by hand? It looked like I had to tap a pin out or something...

Man, I couldn't get that pin out for the life of me. I put the bolt in the oven for about 20 minutes at 250 degrees, then blasted the crap out of it with gun scrubber then sprayed it with Tetra spray which is a light cleaner lubricant. Seemed to work out well.

Vento- yep, mine were right on. Actually kind of suprised my. Both my AKs and my Russian needed to be sighted in. Of course I lost the tool ages ago. :(

Cool pics Scorpio.

I'm curious... at what range do you guys typically shoot at when you're target practicing with handguns? I've been using targets with 5 round targets to a sheet (each about 12" diameter) and setting it out about 15 yards.

Also, what's the deal with Wolf ammo? I noticed Reed's has a Wolf box with a great big X on it. I should have asked last time but forgot.

I usually shoot pistol at 15-25yards outdoors. Maybe 10-15 indoors. Sight picture, front sight, press. Well, at least that is what I try. I can't hit shit with anything but my Kimbers.

Wolf is cheap smelly ammo, but it should work just fine. My ex's dad would run it through his full auto Thompson without a problem. Accuracy will not be the best and cleaning may take a bit longer, but OK to use. Personally I just get the Winchester value packs at Walmart. They are really the best deal. I also like Fiocchi, Trader's usually has it on sale.

I think its due to the fact that Wolf uses steel case, and they are just too lazy to sort them out. They sell the brass that they collect.

So anyone else here do trap????

I went for the very first time this afternoon and it was soo much fun. Yah I totally sucked. We did 3 rounds. 14, 15, and then 18. I was at 17 going into my last 5 but then I couldnt hit the broad side of barn from 10ft away.

If the weather holds up I plan on going again this weekend.

OK clowns, it's time to start contemplating shotgun purchases. I work at Big 5. Big 5 carries Mossberg 500s and Remi 870s. I didn't get a chance to check the price, but if it's the same, I'll go with the Remington, but if the Mossy is cheaper, yeah..

So...Mr Furious posted a pic of the 870 Marine Magnum, but I'd like to keep this under $300..so..

Also, which rounds will not penetrate the drywall? There's a hot chick living next door, and I'd hate to shoot up that sexy body of hers :(

Pick up one of the winchester defenders when they go on sale at your store. They kick ass.

Pretty much anything will go through drywall. If your distances are going to be pretty short to your target go ahead and use birdshot/target loads.

Dude at Big 5 the Mossberg 500 was $220, and thats with the home defense and game barrel. you arent going to find it for much cheaper than that. I picked one up and took it out to shoot some trap. I did OK considering it was my first time ever. I actually shot better than some people out there with way more expensive shotguns than me. LOL

Ohh yah there are also alot of mods out there for 500 if you want to turn it into a tactical shotgun.

The Mossberg at my Big 5 is $300, just like the Remi, but they both come with "accessories" (I don't know what).

Hey Tom, wanna help me break in the shotgun when I get it? :laughing :teeth

But seriously though, do I want the 26" barrel or the 18" with the +3 rd extension? Which one has less recoil? Does the vented barrel or what not make a difference?

What are you going to be doing with the shotgun?

If you are going to get into clays then get the 26" but if you are going to go to the indoor ranges and use it for home defense then get the shorter barrel with the mag extension.

Anyone here have any scopes from us optics or nightforce? If so what do you think of them?

I don't have one cause I'm way too poor, but I've shot a rifle with a Nightforce and they make a damn sweet scope. It was crystal clear and the owner said it has been completely stable on his .308. Being the cheap bastard that I am though I'd check on a Leupold Tactical for my high end scope needs. Being the real cheap bastard that I really am, I ended up getting a Super Sniper from SWFA for my LTR for $299. No where near as nice as the nightforce but a decent value at $299.

Webberstyle, I again recommend the Winchester Defender. I like the action much better than on the 870, it is very slick. Not as versatile as the interchangable barrels on the Mossberg, but a much nicer action.

It's settled..I'm buying whatever Big 5 has on sale :laughing

I just saw our ad for this week...Mossberg 500 20" 7+1 for $219.99, throw in my employee discount, and it's pretty much a Mossy 12 gauge for under 200 otd :teeth
But I don't have the money right now (that's what the job is for :p) so I'll be waiting to see what goes on sale next.
Ratters, thanks for the recommendation, but we don't carry Winchester shotguns :(

Really, I was in Big 5 here in Walnut Creek and they had the winchester on sale for $279. Hmmm. Congrats on the Mossy.

Anybody want to read a great survival fiction?

http://mfco.net/surv/fiction/

Check out Light's Out by Half Fast. He's only about 70% done but it's turning out to be a really great read. It's about an EMP burst that permanently takes out electricity in Europe and the United States, and what people had to do to survive.
