BARF Militia

:laughing :laughing

J&G Sales has a bunch of 91/30's for less than $100 if anyone wants a good home protection tool... WAY easier to swing than a baseball bat.

LOL.

M44 and 91/30 in my house.:cool

I like my new town!

We just got the January newsletter -- a little 4-page thing printed on a 17"x11" paper folded in half -- and it has the regular news about town councils, library stuff, garbage schedules, etc, but on the top of page 2 it has "Welcome to our new residents!" and lists me and the 4 other families that moved in last month. :laughing

And on page 4 it reminds everyone about January's hunter education class at city hall! :cool

Late today Inkman ~ Al took me over to Bullseye's in San Rafael for some indoor shooting. We had a blast! Al brought his pistols, and I brought my 1911 and tried out two rentals, a Sig P226 (not DAK) and a Springfield XD40, plus Al's Sig P229 -- all .40 caliber. Was a first for me to shoot indoors, and except for forgetting my ear muffs and initially being stunned by the deafening reports of nearby pistols being fired, I had too much fun. I think we shot for 2 hours, and I could have shot for several more. Both Bad Guy targets were all sold out and the Zombie one looked too frickin' weird. So I shot some guy in his back! :laughing Killed him over and over. We even tried out the Mozambique drill. Dang! That is one hard exercise even with the target vertical and nearly still. On my second try, at 10 yards, I shot his heart, got his right kidney, and blew a hole into his right carotid (just below the ear!).

Thanks, Al! Shooting indoors at Bullseye's was way too :cool!

And on the ride home, my DRZ conked out on me! Somehow I managed to run out of gas. :mad Put a gallon in (when did the prices go up to almost 2 bucks a gallon?) and then rode through Rodeo to Crockett to Carquinez Scenic Dr. and McEwen Rd., with just my little DRZ headlight to illuminate those two darkened roads. No deer and no cows along the way either. What a near perfect evening!

I know about the OLL. Whats a good brand and price for a striped lower? I see the Spike's Tactical ones went UP $45, they are now $179...

How'd the Sigs feel to you?

Great!

They fit my size 8 girlie hands very well and their weight felt right. The 226 has a longer barrel and so has a tad more heft to it than Al's 229 (I think it's a 229 and not a 239), which is more compact and for carrying.

Since no one was at the rental counter when Al suggested I try another pistol, Al let me shoot his Sig. And so I compared the two. Al's Sig is a beauty in comparison to the 226. I also liked Al's night sights, as their brightness made seeing the lit target in the darkened shooting range much easier. The 226 front sight was filthy and difficult to distinguish against the lit target. Al said it wouldn't be easy to clean. Still I added a touch of my saliva and then worked it into the front sight. The neat thing is the overhead light made my saliva glisten, which made seeing the front sight even better! :laughing Did the silly thing by dry firing both Sigs, one in each hand. "Look, Al!" I said. "Just like in the movies!" :laughing Now that I think about it, I really should've fired a couple of rounds while holding both Sigs. Another visit to Bullseye and I will be able to find out what the recoil feels like in shooting two Sigs simultaneously.

The Springfield XD impressed me immediately, as I didn't have to make any adjustments in finding center mass. Bang! Bang! Bang! Right in the bullseye! :laughing Last spring, during my second firearms outing, Uhmeebuh let me try out his XD. I loved shooting it but I didn't know what I was doing in firing. Now that I do, I appreciate the XDs.

They're all on back order, not sure if you realize that. You'll probably run into that wherever you go, so just find one from a reputable company that you are OK buying from and go for it.

You may want to give San Jose Gun Exchange a call too. I bought a couple High Standard lowers from them a couple years back, they were about $115 at the time (prolly $170 now) and work absolutely fantastic.

On a side note, I got my Eotech in for my new Bushmaster! Wooot!
