Does Big5 do FFL transfers? If so, how much?

Eiernkreuz, do you have any more rifles that need cleaning? :laughing

It was great meeting you yesterday :thumbup

:rofl No, that's it for now! I cleaned the Steyrs myself :laughing

Big 5 will do PPT but we don't do transfers between other FFLs. We have a unique setup with the DOJ where we can only send and receive guns from our distribution center and/or our stores.

As far as PPT goes, we do long guns only, for $25 + $10/gun. If it's something we don't sell, we need to obtain permission to proceed from our Operations Dept. so don't bring me a CA-legal AR-15 on Sunday morning. :p

Where is the Big 5 in Concord?

I got my garand at a store in the used rack for $500. I love it.

I got an M1 Garand, Winchester that I have yet to shoot, but hope to take it to the range soon. I took my MAS-36 and SVT-40 to the range earlier tonight. As much as I hate to admit it, that MAS was very accurate! Without touching the sites every shot was through the bullseye at the close range and when I moved the target all the way down range my first two shots were through the same hole. The French certainly didn't get their asses kicked because they made a lousy infantry rifle. :laughing

The SVT was pretty sweet but I need to adjust the sites because all the shots are to the left but they were in a nice group although not near as tight as the MAS.

Both are sweet rifles. :thumbup

Gotta get that Garand out there, you'll love it.

My Garand is so pretty I almost don't want to shoot it. I think it was an arsenal rework in the early 50's and has never been shot since. I recently bought 3 enbloc clips for it and also a brand new military issue, unused, cleaning kit for it. The Garand is already the favorite WW2 rifle of my collection even though its the only one I have yet to shoot. Well, I haven't shot the Enfield No. 4, Mk 1 yet either but I a still building it so it'll be a while, but I have to say that just from operating the bolt action, the Enfield is hands down the smoothest bolt action (by a large margin) of any infantry [bolt action] rifle I have held and cycled.

I shot my k98 a few weeks back and found it to be relatively accurate at 100 yards, but I blame my skills and familiarity with the rifle more than anything. I can say the same for the Type 99 Arisaka, but even considering that, it was not as accurate as my k98 even though the bore on my 99 is in better shape than the bore on the k98, but both bores are in great shape.

Does anyone have a K98 they want to get rid of? My son, who turned 18 in February, realized he can buy long guns now and has a severe case of Jonesing going on. He doens't want an M48 or M24 or their variants, it must be a German K98.

Anyone know the value of a Smith and Wesson Colt 45 25-5? Didnt know it was in the family and Dad doesnt like the revolver idea.

That might prove to be true if you were targeting an audience >1, or if that audience wasn't Mike T. :laughing

There are dozens of them for sale at the various gun auction sites and prices start at about $300. If you can wait, you could always go to the next gun show and buy one off of someone walking around with one for sale. That is the best option IMO since you get a fair price and you don't have to go through an FFL or a 10 day waiting period and all the fees that go with it.

Took my dad and my grandad out to Chabot to fire our old pistols. We had some 22 target range pistol (my grandad won some sort of team world championship thing with it back around 1970ish!) and a Mauser HSc. The 22 hadn't been fired since the 70's, and the Mauser hadn't been shot since the 40's or 50's (taken by my grandad from some Nazi officer in 1945, then never really used it when he got back home). Both, while a bit stiff, worked fine after a quick cleaning. My grandad enjoyed it since he used to obviously be an avid shooter and hadn't been to a range in 30 years. And now my dad is looking up pistols to buy :haha. Was a fun day

Mike, don't you think that it would be even more cooller if you took one of your family members to one of the Bay Area ranges to shoot your gun? Think about it. They would have even more respekt for you. And we would stop making fun of you.

For a few days.:p

I'm still looking for a K98K. I spoke to Mitchell's Mausers today, and the salesman claims they do not refinish their rifles.

My boss at work has one of their higher end grades, and the wood on it is very blond in colour, but seems to me to have been stripped. The edges around the action, the slot for the sling, etc. are very dark, apparently from the original finish. What is The Militia's opinion of these pieces?
