I'm still looking for a K98K. I spoke to Mitchell's Mausers today, and the salesman claims they do not refinish their rifles.
My boss at work has one of their higher end grades, and the wood on it is very blond in colour, but seems to me to have been stripped. The edges around the action, the slot for the sling, etc. are very dark, apparently from the original finish. What is The Militia's opinion of these pieces?
They are good quality rifles but Mitchell's prices are a little high. I think most of their k98s were made in a labor concentration camp in Styer. I would buy one of their rifles and probably will before end of year. I have a Russian capture k98 with the dark finish. It shoots very nice and is in great shape. I paid under $500 for it.

rifle pron right there...!
