How do you like your 930? I was eyeballing one the other day. Any problems cycling low base loads through it?

I have only put about 50 rounds through it so far but there are things I don't like about it already. I really wanted a pistol grip semi auto shotgun and had been looking at the Remington 1100 Tac 2 for awhile. My FFL had both a Tac 2 and a 930 SPX in stock and both were under MSRP. The Remmy lists for $890 and was available for $840. The Mossy lists for $700 but was available for $665.
I figured the cost savings plus the addition of the picatinny rail and ghost ring sights which cost over $200 on their own swayed into the favor of the Mossy.
The Mossy shoots like a rock star. It is very smooth and accurate but the ergonomics don't fit me well. I paid an additional $90 for the Choate PG stock and over sized combat bolt handle. Instead of making to gun easier to shoot as I anticipated, the Choate made the already non existent cheek weld even worse. The Ghost ring sights do not work well for me as they block the target view and inhibit fast target acquisition (at least for me. Other shooters benefit from this sight setup). They also raise the cheek off the stock more than I like. This is purely personal preference. I like a firm cheek weld with any long gun and shotties are no exception so GR sights and red dot scopes etc. don't fit for me well. I haven't yet made a solid decision on whether to throw more money into it and ad a Trigicon scope of some type and a cheek riser but I'm leaning towards selling it off and getting that TAC 2 which is what I should have done in the first place.
I haven't completely decided to sell it yet but if I do I would accept an offer of $750 which leaves me $100 in the hole at this point. That would compensate me for the initial cost plus tax but I would be eating the $90 spent on the stock and bolt handle. Original stock and all packaging would be included. We could even arrange to meet at Los Altos for some shooting time first but be forewarned that the more time I spend with this gun the less likely I am to sell it. It is a total blast to shoot.
I wish I could afford to have both in which case I would get a Remmy Tac 4 and ad the Tac 2 PG stock.

. I was just curious about the quality of what they will get. I want to get a SA TRP or HK before I get a garand, I'd also like to acquire a nice 1903 A3 too. I've already commited myself to a couple new toys coming up in the next few weeks. I hate anticipation!!!!!!!!I also made the fatal mistake of getting my C&R, which came in saturday! You all know what i'm talkin' about, bigger safe time!!! Now I have to get a fuckin' COE, so I dont have to wait on C&R handguns.
What kind of dumbass rule is that. The 10 day waiting period, is the so called, "cooling off period". So as to stop you from going on a shooting spree, but for C&R handguns, pay $20, give me your thumbprint, and you don't have to wait.
Like a tokarev TT or remington rand 1911 is any less dangerous that a modern handgun...

It's not about the cool off period but it is all about a justification to get more money out of people who purchase a gun.

Meh, IMHO it's about politicians posing to their constituents who are scared of crime to make them believe the politicians are actually effective at reducing crime.
But they're not, and with good reason. If their approach to reducing crime did work, those politicians would have one less platform to preach from, and they need these issues to justify their existence.

Yes and no. The Garand gas system has very specific pressure needs at the gas port - not to be confused with chamber pressure. Different powder and projectile configurations produce very different gas port pressure than most commercial ammunition. If you shoot too heavy or too light a bullet and / or the wrong powder you will eventually damage your Garand. The operating rod is the Achilles' heel of this system and is easily bent if the incorrect ammunition is utilized. Other bad things can happen as well, so you would be better off shooting the CMP available ammunition. A few cartridge manufacturers are making loads and marking their boxes as Garand specific.
