Best performance tires for street use

Metzeler is coming with a new Sportec M7 RR tire that got a good review at MCN. I'm thinking of trying those or Q3 next.

These replace the M5. Anybody have experience with that? Internet search implied decent mileage.

I want to know, also...Hadden't heard of them yet, but....MCN sayin good review, is Hot.

When they reviewed my bike, it made them cry like little girls "that bike is a beast".
So I ran right out and bought it.:laughing Best bike purchase Evah. :thumbup

Humm, just checked their web page, can't trust that at all..but they make all the right claims. And I like the looks.

It will take me a while (like a year) to evaluate and report on them.

Ive had 5 sets of tires on my Ducati Multi, from PR2-PR3-Q3 and the Q3's were the best feeling tire! But, they lasted 2200 miles, while the PR3's went 5200. Since I did not like the PR3 front, I'm getting ready to mount a PP3 front with a PR3 rear.

Hey, 257(3B43), I just changed out those Rosso Corsa's on Zuki with 4500 mi, front still had good tread. They are not cheap but worked well. Trying the Q 3's , will see how they fair for me compared to to your torque monster.

I'm a believer in the Q3!! with the stiff side wall you can run a bit lower pressure On the street and it'll HOOK but they lay about 2000

I'm at 6k mi with a set of BT-023 on my Multistrada 1000DS. Like them. Looks like the rear will need to be replaced by 6.5k mi; the front can go to 9k mi or so. I plan to try the T30 next.

With that kind of tire mileage, I'll bet you're not riding a big twin like the Multistrada.

No, I'm riding an R1

I didn't like the 020s, or 021s, but mah (used) FJR dun came w/ 023s and they seem just as good as PRIIs wet or dry; maybe bettah?

On T30s? :wow
I just ordered me set of "GT spec" T30s from AMT and they'z only $224 fer the set! :party

Wut do you know, you ride a Wee Strom! :twofinger

No, i got just over 17k on my BT-023

What? Where do you ride? I couldn't get that kind of life out of Metzler ME880's. If an ST tire lasts me 5K, that's okay. 6K and I'm really happy.

Squid! :twofinger
I got damn near 8K outta a PRII once, 'n that wuz mah bestest mileage evah, butt 6 to 7K iz the norm.

You got 17k on a BT-023 on an R1???

Well, some posts back he said he had a really long commute, so I guess it's possible.

Thread creep.... have you mounted the T30s on your FJR yet? What do you think? I'm trying to decide between them and going back to Roadsmarts.

I'm the only creep here, 'n we iz talk'in 'bout the best street tires. :p
Dun the rear Saturday, and just got the front dun after work yesterday. Initial scuff in report; so far so good. :party I'll let ya know mor after I go fer a real ride :ride
@ $224 a set of GT spec tyres, these are a better value than PRIIs :thumbup

Dunlop dun sold me sum outta round tires decades ago, (And wouldn't take 'em when I complained.) so I haven't considered their shit in over 20 years! Lets see, an average of 15K mi. a year, 'n 'bout 5K mi. outta a set of tyres, times 'bout 23 years... :laughing

OK Creep, best street tires (for an FJR)..??. <g>

Not PR2s. They may last, but SCARY... they break w/o much warning (for me) Haven't tried PR3 or 4.

I found the Dunlop Roadsmart (Version 1) fronts to be trustworthy, but also the most prone to wear from cupping. I've got a set of the Roadsmart IIs on my FZ1 and I'm impressed. But the FZ1 doesn't load the front like an FJR...

The Bridgestone 023GTs really were a good compromise. Roughly equiv to Dunlop for traction and better longevity for profile in front. Same same rear. My real question on the T30 replacements has to do with "feel." I had a set of S20s on the FZ1 and they were harsh, too stiff for my liking compared to Roadsmarts or Qualifiers.

Guess this is a wordy post asking what you think of "compliance" or "harshness" of the T30GTs and compared to the 023GTs.

Thanks

I'm trying to decide what tires to toss on the SV1000 soon. Not sure if I'll run PP3/PR4 or S20/T30. Thoughts?

Not yet, but thanks for the hint. I do like me some Pirellis. :ride

Hi! I'm late to the party. The only answer is the BT-023.

T30s, (From American Motorcycle Tire) butt it depends what ya want; performance, mileage, value? The best performance ST tire I've tried were the Avon storms. I tried the Is IIs, and luved 'em, best grip, turn-in, feel, but they're kinda pricey and didn't last as long as Pilot Road IIs. Same with the Angels, but I haven't tried the new Angel GTs. I didn't like the PRIIIs & had my only "radial tire" crash on 'em. :(
My bike came w/ 023s and they seemed purdie good; even bald on wet roads they had good predictable grip & feel, so I went with T30s. At $224 a set ya can't beat 'em fer value. Still haven't got a chance to thrash yet cuz I gotz this j.o.b thang I gotta do, butt I'll put 'em through their paces this weekend. :teeth

Wow. I got 1800 out of mine on the Tuono before they lost profile, rear squared and the front started to cup. Loved those tires, but they went off so fast once I started commuting a bit on them. Had plenty of tread left but the profile made the turn in so wacky.
