Banjoboy is actually a total gentleman with a warped sense of humor. He's done a lot for my riding in the almost two years I've been his disciple. :dunno

You can storm off with your knickers in a twist or you can grow a thicker skin and enjoy some of the great people on BARF.

signed,

Your fellow female rider

Dravnx, Loki1000R, Danate - thanks.

For the rest of you...'pink ladies', 'leghumpers', 'a purdie mouf', 'take you under their wing'...and craigslist women seeking men ---

You guys are disrespectful losers. And not very funny.

Forget I asked.

wtf? you have a bad attitude. i wasnt trying to be funny. just trying to help. oh well. some people man, i swear.

im sure someone will take you under their wing

How dare you assume she might want to ride with someone who can offer riding tips?

I live in Santa Rosa and ride an '08 CBR600RR, middling speeds, always interested in improving and exploring...available weekdays.

Oh, right.

Forget I asked.

Done.

Since I wasn't named as one of the helpful, I must be one of the disrespectful losers.

Candidly, if you are insulted by something someone else said here you can say so, and Barf is one of the few places where people will stop, delete, and apologize (or a Mod will help them do it). Turning around and calling us all losers, imho, goes a bit beyond that.

Open forums like these (and the internet in general) are breeding grounds of immaturity, it's where everyone's inner 13 year old comes out to play. Many things are said in jest, very few with malicious intent. I have yet to meet someone from Barf in person that isn't a genuinely nice person (weird and quirky at times, but nice). I think if you can filter through the BS being tossed around (admittedly there is a lot of it), there's a lot of good info and good folks around these parts.

Hi all, can someone tell me where to post if I want a riding buddy (ies)? I live in Santa Rosa and ride an '08 CBR600RR, middling speeds, always interested in improving and exploring...available weekdays. I just prefer the safety of riding with others...more fun, too. Thanks!

Next time I have a weekday off for riding, I'll hit you up if want to try Skaggs:thumbup. I've got an ancient BMW, so the pace is usually around like hot glue. I'm very safety conscious, and share a deep spiritual connection with ravens and ferns.:)

Lucat,

You may want to check out the Dames Don't Care all-female riding group on Facebook. They post all-girl rides and the occasional co-ed ride. All pretty moderate-to-mellow paced, but there's definitely a couple of hooligans in the group, if that's your thing.

You can also informal find group rides that randomly show up in our Group Rides section. They may not be as frequent as the weekend rides, but they come up from time to time (usually with only 1-2 day's notice,) so keep your eyes on that part of the forum if you haven't been scared off the forums, yet.

Try not to take the newbie-ribbing too seriously. We're mostly just a bunch of harmless weirdos.*

*Mostly.

lucat, honestly, I'm as weird as I am harmless, so you'll be in good hands.
maybe we could pull together a little ad hoc group ride? but I'm just working a lot right now, so I have to keep it more or less spontaneous. I'm really good with new riders.:ride

Lucy, it takes a tough skin to be on BARF. Guys don't tend to be as abrasive to women in person as to other men, but on the internet it may be different.

The "purty mouth" comment wouldn't have been a surprise to see directed at a guy, either.

So, thanks, most of you! I dunno if I have a 'bad attitude'. Guess I thought I was asking a straight question that wasn't gender-related. Thin skin? Maybe. I used to do OK in mostly male cockpits in the airlines...thrived on lowbrow humor.

Newbie? Not exactly, with over 20 years of riding, interesting leap some of you made. And group rides, all the time. And I'm highly social, thanks.

I'd love to ride Skaggs, will check out Dames Don't Care...

guess that's a negative on the 'hawt' question :twofinger

I've ridden with Lucy. She's hawt. You don't hafta be 25 to be hawt. And she can ride.

30-plus years of riding and the hotter I get the more vents I open. :teeth

Lucy, welcome to barf where when I make a thread asking about motorcycles, I don't correct people who call me "he".

It's easier that way and you'll get taken a lot more seriously. Sad but true. Go on a group ride (I like the mellow ones because it's not all competition) if you want to get to know folks. People who show their faces are sometimes worth knowing.

There are some truly good people on this forum who have helped me IMMENSELY (and I still love them for it) but I don't blame you for not bothering wading through the bullshit on the regular. I stopped months ago. It's not worth it. Find your few good eggs and to hell with the rest.

"Better than most other moto forums" for female riders doesn't mean it's good. The bar isn't exactly set high here.
