Close one on Pinehurst - another effing M4M thread/rant

My Chevette was baby blue, with a big graphic that said "RALLY 1.6" as if to brag about the cubic inches under the hood! The most embarrassing car in history. Luckily, I killed it after much trying.:laughing

As for staying in your lane, girls that age are smarter than boys that age, for the most part!

Vega's were awesome.:|

Uh yeah... when ya dropped a V8 in 'em!!! :teeth

This guy is douche for sure, and needs to be taken off the road. Driving over the DY like that is going to end badly for someone, and I applaud everyone's efforts to work this ass over.

BUT, I sure do read a lot of self-righteous commentary on this thread. From people that in past threads state how they like to hit the Redwood/Pinehurst/Skyline/Grizzely roads hard, have crashed on these or other roads riding over their heads, gotten tickets, lost friends they admire for their fast street riding skillz, and so on. Even the OP states he was "Climbing up the hill at a spirited pace". I'm betting on your ride you were somewhere north of the posted limit. Never?

So, think a minute about how the locals, bicyclists, pedestrians, drivers and everyone else using and living along those roads feels when you (collective you) rail by on your "little romp", pass them over the DY, and generally act just like the dick this Z guy is. Spend some time on these roads on a bicycle and you'll get an idea of what I'm talking about. You'll enjoy the feeling when some tool hugging the right shoulder on a blind right nearly rear-ends you. Drive in your car on a weekend up to one of the parks--see how most of the squids treat you when you're driving at the posted limit. Guess no one here ever gets pissed when a cage won't get over so you can continue your fast lap...

All you gunning for these shit-for-drivers is great, go get 'em, they deserve it. But then don't bitch and moan when the locals or the bicyclists come after your ass for a similar entitlement attitude--that the road is mine to ride as fast as I want on it. Doesn't really matter if you think your safe and secure and only riding in your lane (except those DY passes)--tell that to the car driver or bicyclist or pedestrian you hit head on because of speed and some gravel or oil on the road.

When we treat these public roads like our own track, we're no better than Divine Z. Something to think about.

No one I ride with has passed a car on the inside of a blind corner and forced the car into oncoming traffic... if they had, 2 things would have happened... 1) they would have had an ass-chewing from me of EPIC proportions, and 2) they would not be riding with me any more.
I went on a single ride with a guy once, up 1, who was crossing the DY to pass cars on blind turns. I had a little "chat" with him about it, and have had NOTHING to do with him since... and that was almost 2 years ago.
I don't personally have an issue with someone riding their bike over the posted limit, or making "safe" passes over the DY (ie: no blind corners, plenty of line-of-site, etc), allowing clearances, etc for cyclists & cars, but that's just me.
But I do not EVER drive my truck the way I drive my bike... and even when I had a loaner Vette for awhile, I sure as hell never pulled the insanity that the kid shows in the vids.

I think the bicyclist that was killed on Skyline a couple of years ago might disagree with you, that is, if he were still alive. The motorcyclist who hit and killed him, and IIRC who bragged often on BARF (the one I've been on the last few years) of his fine high speed riding skillz up in the Oakland Hills, walked away.

Lest anyone thinks my shit doesn't stink, I've done my share of stupid back in "the day". Not for a long time though. Guess that makes me an angel :laughing

I have NEVER seen anyone posting on BARF who's bragged about killing a bicyclist... and I hope I never do. :|

Connie, dunno for sure, but I think BPBiker wasn't saying that the rider bragged about hitting someone.

^^^
Agreed. The rider in question was apparently one who bragged of his skills, yet didn't have enough to avoid taking out a cyclist. Dunno who it was, though.

I'm glad the OP made it out ok. You can count me in as another set of eyes on the road watching for this ass. If I see him and manage not to be killed from his shitty driving, I'll be sure to notify the cops.

Big props to Gixxergirl for her new fan club!

He needs to watch (and take to heart) the vid that was posted in the photos section:

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Pay-attention_207993.htm

Painful to watch.

I have a hard time watching the driving dialog scenes in TV shows and movies for this reason. The characters are supposed to be driving, yet we see the driver looking at his passenger while we talk. I keep expecting them to hit a pedestrian or run into a telephone pole.

BTW, to whomever took it upon themselves to contact DevineZ:

If your goal is to get this guy off the road, you probably fucked up. If you want to take this boy to court, the last thing we want to be doing is making statements, and giving him an opportunity to destroy evidence. Thank you very much.

It was painfully obvious from my post that I was not condoning passing over the yellow in turns for any reason. Didn't even mention bicycles.

Don't know why in the world you'd take what I said out of context like that. Maybe you are looking for someone to argue with.

BTW: I found this quote funny:
lost friends they admire for their fast street riding skillz

Have you lost a friend on Redwood Rd? If you did, was he your friend because "of his mad fast street riding skilz yo"?

I lost a friend on Redwood. He was a rider for 40 or so years, a sweetheart of a guy, and a fun guy to hang out with, and passionate about riding. That is why I liked him. He generally took it pretty easy when he rode.

I saw DevineZ on Redwood today. He was parked at Pinehurst. I stopped and talked to him and he told me he was out there trying talk to motorcycle riders about what happened. Some people are flipping him off as they pass.

He told me about the incident with Kurt and said he was basically roadraging with the Miata who almost hit his friend and leet his emotions get the best of him. He was very apologetic. We talked about the importance of staying in your own lane and he agreed.

I didn't ask him about the videos, he says he is going to post here so I'm sure everyone will ask him.

He seems like a sincere guy who feels bad for his actions.

This was about 5:30pm. I think he was staying out there for a while. Go see him if you want to talk to him.

barf apology

to all of barf. im the driver of the silver 350z that almost ran the motorcyclist off of pinehurst. i got on this forum so i can clear things up and hopefully we can forget this ever happend. yes, i do admit and take full responsiblity for nearly running into him and i dont blame any of you for being so angry. however there was a reason why this happend i do not drive like that on any regular day. but here is the story to hopefully get you guys to stop with this confrontation. so me and a friend were cruising down redwood and he stopped to fix his battery becuase it was relocated to the back. while stopped a stock red miata came flying by and nearly hit me and my friend, of course that would make anyone angry. correct? so i let that anger get the best of me and i started to chase him down. after i caught up to him he brake checked me and to avoid hitting him i swerved into the oncoming traffic lane where i encountered the motorcycle. again i cant expalin how sorry i am. and how bad i feel about almost taking his life. i just want to clear things up with everyone. me nor my crew are in any way wreckless drivers. we only double lane at night...late late at night when you can see on coming traffic by headlight. and in none of the videos do we double lane during the day and if we do it was only turns where you can see right to the next few turns. and the faith reaction to touge no way was the driver close to running into the bmw. we have alot of respect for bikers on the road we throw up the peace sign to everyone we see. we stop at the intersection of pinehurst and redwood all the time to discuss and have a friendly chat with all the enthusiasts there to drive that road. in fact there was one video where we are driving down redwood and we seen a female rider who took a spill and was stuck under her bike and with no hesitation we all stopped and ran over to her to check to make sure she was ok. we are not bad people or wreckless drivers. i cant explain to you all how sorry i really am about this whole situation. we also waited on redwood today for anyone from barf to talk to and explain in person and apologize about the incident. we are willing to set up a date and time where we can meet up so i can apologize in person because i want to be respected like you all respect each other. we have been on that road since early 2006 and have never had a incident like this happen before. in no way are we wreckless or dumbass drivers. im even willing to have me and my team to only run the road at night if you guys don't feel safe with us being on that road when cyclists are riding. since we never encounter any motorcyclist at night. we love the road and respect it just as much as you all do and i would hate to have this be a reason to not feel safe to drive on that road.
i admit that chasing the miata was immature and dumb. but how many of you have ever been cut off and chased the person down just to give them the finger? its road rage that got the best of me and again i apologize for my actions. you can pm me if you would like to meet up. we just want to squash this whole incident. and possibly build a community amongst mortorcyclist and car enthusiast to become more aware and actually have fun being on that road.

and i would like to apologize personally to the rider who i almost took out. i would like to apologize to you in person and hopefully would get your understanding.
sincerly-
masaki (silver 350z)

I'm certainly not in any position to return the jury's verdict on this one, but what you did here clearly took at least some measure of courage and humility. I hope this progresses to a resolution of sorts. Staying tuned.

:wtf:wtf:wtf:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:mad:mad:mad

This, you see, is what we generally refer to as a HUGE HONKIN' CONTRADICTION.

i know this apology might not do it for most of you seeing that this thread grew to this extent. but i truely am sincerely sorry for my actions and if i could take back that day where it never happened then i would. everyone makes mistakes and this is my mistake that i regret, if known that he was in that lane i wouldve took my chances of rear ending the miata other than taking out a rider.

If you're truly sorry, you'll stop driving like a complete twatwaffle, regardless of situation or time of day.

I think we get that you're sorry you almost hit a motorcyclist, and your explanation/excuse/apology is appreciated, but with all the youtube videos we've seen (and your admission of some dangerous habits), I think it's more your general driving style that worries most of us.

i will and i agree but i dn't want any hostility between the bikers and our crew if we're up there we will say wassup and throw peace signs
