all the videos up on youtube might be seen as fast and wreckless but those videos are not of us racing and tryin to endanger other drivers, we are up there to enjoy the road....this is not my general driving style, i do not do this on a daily, those times are over with me but that road keeps me up on my driving ability and no im not a pro, we take precaution everytime we head up there exp: car conditions, road conditions, and traffic conditions as well as the wildlife that like to cross the roads, from what i have seen from driving that road and seeing other people try to "race" there are alot more wreckless drivers on that road and we get pissed off at that to because they precede the image of us car enthusiasts as a wreckless street racer.

I think we get that you're sorry you almost hit a motorcyclist, and your explanation/excuse/apology is appreciated, but with all the youtube videos we've seen (and your admission of some dangerous habits), I think it's more your general driving style that worries most of us.

i agree and i will show you that this will not happen again and my driving habits on that road and anywhere else will change

it only takes once. if you want to race or speed, that's what the track is for ;)

i agree and i will show you that this will not happen again and my driving habits on that road and anywhere else will change

thank you. :)

Wow, Saki.
I gotta give you credit for having the humility to show up here and apologize. So mad props to you for doing that. I know that there's a lot of people on here who are REALLY pissed at you (at the very least, the OP) and I hope that they take the time to read your apology and not get nitpicky over your wording or just launch into a full bore flame-fest to vent their anger. You admit what you did was wrong, owned up to it & are willing to discuss it in public and for that I respect you.

I understand why you say that you chased down the Miata in the first place and that it was road rage, but I sincerely hope that this near-fatal collision has brought some perspective into your life. You were given a free pass this time around and there will most likely not be another. I hope you realize this and never let road rage get the best of you again. You saw firsthand how quickly it can go from seeking revenge or vindication or whatever... to taking the life of an innocent person who was in no way involved in your dispute with the Miata. As motorcyclists, we have to deal with "near misses" on a daily basis and we are all too familiar with your urge to chase down someone who almost hurt you and your friend. The next time you feel that anger well up inside you, hopefully you'll just take a deep breath and let it slide. At the most, get the person's license plate and report them to the authorities for reckless driving.

As for the touge that you and your friends do, I understand how you're trying to justify crossing the DY, (only at night, only on corners where you can see approaching headlights...etc) but there's always exceptions to these situations and there's always "that one time" where things weren't quite the way you expected them to be and it winds up with someone in the hospital or worse. I would never accept any excuse for crossing the DY, even if it's at 3 AM on a Monday morning when you think everyone's asleep. The odds will eventually come up against you and you're going to lose. Keep in mind that the drifters on Touge Battle are on a CLOSED COURSE.

You think that just because you're reducing the risk of running into someone on Redwood or Pinehurst by running late at night is thoughtful, but it's not logical. Here are some examples of how quickly things can go wrong:
  • An SUV packed with a lost family making a u-turn in a blind corner
  • A downed tree limb/rockslide on the roadway (doesn't matter which lane you're in, if you're speeding, you're toast)
  • Deer--alive or dead--in the roadway (again, doesn't matter which lane you're in, if you're speeding, you're toast)
  • Broken down vehicle blocking a lane with NO hazzard lights on because their battery has died.
  • I'm sure you can imagine more on your own.

I've personally come across the first three (the last of which, a friend hit a dead deer lying in the road ... at night. The result just about killed her & her friends.) and the fourth example actually happened ... to you & your friend. Lucky for you it was during the day. What if it happened at night... where there wasn't a turn out... and your friends came hauling ass around the corner at full speed? That would be all she wrote. Game over.

If you want to practice togue, I'd suggest looking up your local rally clubs (SCCA and NASA)

There's TONS of people who will gladly help you get started and offer a helping hand... (myself included). I think you'll like the result of taking part in REAL racing clubs far more than the alternative. You can get trophies/training/sponsorships/real-world recognition instead of speeding tickets/jail time/lose your license/car impounded...etc! Not only will it be safer, but you'll actually improve your driving skills.

I hope you've learned from this experience (and it sounds like you have, to some degree.)

By the way, I'm not only a motorcyclist, I also race cars, so I kinda know what I'm talkin' about. Any day you want to meet me & my 1995 Volvo at the track, I'll gladly teach you some moves. :D

Woah, he actually came. I wonder if he will actually stop driving like a fool or change... Only time will tell! Plus, we all know how he looks like and his car.

First of all, learn to type like an adult.

to all of barf. im the driver of the silver 350z that almost ran the motorcyclist off of pinehurst. i got on this forum so i can clear things up and hopefully we can forget this ever happend.
Not bloody likely, but I'm sure you would like to not take responsibility for your actions.
yes, i do admit and take full responsiblity for nearly running into him and i dont blame any of you for being so angry.
Really, let's see what you have to say then.
however there was a reason why this happend i do not drive like that on any regular day.
Justifications and excuses. You drove like that and nearly killed a man, and you've done it before, as evidenced by your YouTube videos.
but here is the story to hopefully get you guys to stop with this confrontation.
Wait, for us to stop with this confrontation? You were the one on the wrong side of the road on a blind corner. You are the one who takes pride in driving like a fucktard and intentionally putting the lives of others on the line. Now you are the one who is scared when your antics are made public and practically the entire motorcycle and sports car community of the Bay knows who you are and your car. We didn't start this confrontation, you did when you put a man's life in danger.
so me and a friend were cruising down redwood and he stopped to fix his battery becuase it was relocated to the back. while stopped a stock red miata came flying by and nearly hit me and my friend, of course that would make anyone angry. correct?
No, but I can understand being angry.
so i let that anger get the best of me and i started to chase him down.
Translation: "I have the brain of a child and instead of letting it go I escalated the situation."
after i caught up to him he brake checked me and to avoid hitting him i swerved into the oncoming traffic lane where i encountered the motorcycle.
Translation: "I drove like a prick and started tailgating, escalating the incident into road-rage." Now pick one of the following:
A - "I was so close that when the car braked to go into a blind corner that I could not control my vehicle, and instead of have a minor fender-bender I chose to risk an head-on collision."
B - "My massive ego couldn't take it so I decided to show the Miata who was boss and took him on the inside, nearly killing a man in the process."
Wow, I should write Choose Your Own Adventure books.

again i cant expalin how sorry i am.
Because you have no concept of how fucked you would be if he had been a less experienced rider.
and how bad i feel about almost taking his life. i just want to clear things up with everyone. me nor my crew are in any way wreckless drivers.
Yes you are, your own videos prove it.
we only double lane at night...late late at night when you can see on coming traffic by headlight.
...unless we are shooting a video
and in none of the videos do we double lane during the day and if we do it was only turns where you can see right to the next few turns.
Lies, your own videos prove it - the ones you deleted (but not before they were downloaded).
and the faith reaction to touge no way was the driver close to running into the bmw. we have alot of respect for bikers on the road we throw up the peace sign to everyone we see. we stop at the intersection of pinehurst and redwood all the time to discuss and have a friendly chat with all the enthusiasts there to drive that road. in fact there was one video where we are driving down redwood and we seen a female rider who took a spill and was stuck under her bike and with no hesitation we all stopped and ran over to her to check to make sure she was ok. we are not bad people or wreckless drivers.
I bet your dog likes you too. Throwing the "peace" to riders doesn't excuse what you did. I don't care if you build schools for orphaned crippled kittens during the week, you still are a reckless driver who willingly puts the lives of others at risk for your own entertainment.
i cant explain to you all how sorry i really am about this whole situation.
Translation: "I'm in deep shit now, and I'm only sorry I got caught."
we also waited on redwood today for anyone from barf to talk to and explain in person and apologize about the incident. we are willing to set up a date and time where we can meet up so i can apologize in person because i want to be respected like you all respect each other.
:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl *gasp* :rofl:rofl:rofl Oh fuck me running, that is the funniest shit I have heard... fuckin' ever!
we have been on that road since early 2006 and have never had a incident like this happen before. in no way are we wreckless or dumbass drivers. im even willing to have me and my team to only run the road at night if you guys don't feel safe with us being on that road when cyclists are riding.
Right, because no one ever uses the road at night, fuckweed. Oh, and we don't pedal - we are riders not cyclists. I don't care when you "run the road," this isn't a fucking time-share. If you continue to drive as you have then you will kill someone. No, I don't feel safe knowing you and your little "crew" are out on the roads. If I had my way your cars would be crushed and recycled as tuna cans and your privilege to drive would be revoked until your social security kicks in.
since we never encounter any motorcyclist at night. we love the road and respect it just as much as you all do and i would hate to have this be a reason to not feel safe to drive on that road.
i admit that chasing the miata was immature and dumb. but how many of you have ever been cut off and chased the person down just to give them the finger?
A better question would be, "how many of you have been cut off and nearly killed someone trying to give someone the finger?"
its road rage that got the best of me and again i apologize for my actions. you can pm me if you would like to meet up. we just want to squash this whole incident.
Yeah, I'm sure you would. Too late, though, it's all over the net. People from forums around the nation are watching this thread - especially the car and moto community here in the bay. Your actions have consequences and you are lucky it's just a smear on your precious rep and not a funeral, criminal charges and a civil suit. You still live at home with mommy and daddy, right? Well, that means that if you kill or injure someone, that person or his/her family can not only go after your assets (your cars), but also your parents' house.
and possibly build a community amongst mortorcyclist and car enthusiast to become more aware and actually have fun being on that road.

and i would like to apologize personally to the rider who i almost took out. i would like to apologize to you in person and hopefully would get your understanding.

Believe it or not, we already have a pretty good relationship with the automotive community, it's just your sorry ass that's on the line here. Don't try to make this a battle of riders v. drivers, because it doesn't exist.

^^^
Agreed. The rider in question was apparently one who bragged of his skills, yet didn't have enough to avoid taking out a cyclist. Dunno who it was, though.

My bad... I re-read the post, and you're right.

It was painfully obvious from my post that I was not condoning passing over the yellow in turns for any reason. Didn't even mention bicycles.

Don't know why in the world you'd take what I said out of context like that. Maybe you are looking for someone to argue with.

BTW: I found this quote funny:

Have you lost a friend on Redwood Rd? If you did, was he your friend because "of his mad fast street riding skilz yo"?

I lost a friend on Redwood. He was a rider for 40 or so years, a sweetheart of a guy, and a fun guy to hang out with, and passionate about riding. That is why I liked him. He generally took it pretty easy when he rode.

I still can't ride past the site of Jim's fatal crash without stopping... sometimes I just ride out there to talk to him. I miss him- not because he had "mad skillz", but because he had the sweetest, most generous, loving heart EVAR.

Masaki~
As the person who posted up in your 350Z forum, I'd like to say a big thank you for having the spine to come to our forum, and post up an apology.
I "get" the passion for driving... I loved tearin' it up Calaveras Road back when I was your age (and that was a long, long, looooooong time ago!).
Having said that, I'm hoping that you'll "get" this... we're most of us a bit older than you. You believe you have skillsets that we know you don't, simply because you aren't old enough to have the years of driving under your belt that a lot of us have. In the blink of an eye, things can go from 'under control' to 'out of control'... and lives can be lost, people can be maimed or crippled, and your life, as you know it, is over.
If you want to really learn how to drive, start doing track days! It's not that expensive! You have a nice car, go flog it around T-Hill all day! Your first time on the track will be eye-opening... and you might get a better idea of why we're all so concerned.
I truly appreciate your willingness to make things right with us, and that goes a LONG way with me, personally.
I won't tell you to stay off a road... but keep in mind that there are still cyclist and motorcyclists up on Redwood after dark, not to mention deer, raccoons, and other critters. I've been through Redwood as late as 9:30pm.
So if you're going to run a road at a "brisk" pace, quit crossing the DY.
And while I have, in the past, once, followed someone who almost killed me, I certainly didn't put others at risk because I was so mad that common sense went right out the window... that would make me as bad as the person I was pissed at, right?
So let me just say a big Thank You for being man enough to come here, and post up your apology. Waiting out at Redwood and Pinehurst was pretty damn manly, too. If I ever get a chance to meet you, I'll shake your hand.
I'll give you a talking to that will make you squirm in embarrassment, but I'll follow it up with a hug.

Edit: Please go back, and re-read what Dave (Blind Io) posted... he has some really valid points, and is pointing out some of the flaws in your logic... But my hope is that you've learned a lot from this experience... one of the things I try to live by is, if I'm going to be embarrassed by other people knowing I did (fill in the blank), then it's something I shouldn't be doing in the first place. This is an opportunity for you to grow a LOT as a person... and I hope you do.

i sincerely thank you for people who understand my apology and i really meant it. you guys are a great forum and i respect all riders. i would like to continue being on this thread and probably come out to any of your rideouts or cruises or meet ups and join your community...and again im sorry for al my actions

Your post is full of contradictions, lies, half-truths, justifications and rationalizations. I don't believe you when you say you are sorry you nearly hit a rider, I believe you are sorry you got called out and are now a walking lepper in the auto and moto worlds.

You admit to your own guilt in this incident, but then try to justify it with some bullshit about a Miata nearly hitting you - which somehow explains away you nearly taking a life for the sake of your own bruised ego. Your own video footage on YouTube shows that you don't "double-lane" at night - which is still reckless driving.

The only honest thing you have said is that you want magical pixies to fly out of the sky and magic this whole thing away - probably because you are just starting to realize how many enemies you have made. Tell me, how many people have shouted at you or flipped you the bird since all this was made public?

If I were you I would sell that Z, or rebuild it, or store it away for a very, very long time.

And oh, by the way. From the thread HellfishMonkey linked:

Snipped video of severely retarded (no offense intended to nice developmentally disabled people) 8th grader driving like a chimpanzee on PCP.

What I don't get is why anyone would want anyone else to actually see this type of incredibly dorky behavior.

That in itself is an act of profound immaturity.

Interesting that they also have figured out how to post the evidence on youtube, proving that even the most severely retarded lower primates can master the internet.

Divine, yes the act was silly and careless and stupid. You've apologized which is VERY big

You're gonna get browbeat by a lot of extremists here.

Take this as a learning experience and try to be safer from here on out, ok?

Trust me, there are BARFers here who do shit just as stupid, if not worse. So don't lose sleep.

I too appreciate whatever it took for you to show up here and talk about it. Ultimately, the guy who matters is the OP in this thread.

i agree and i will show you that this will not happen again and my driving habits on that road and anywhere else will change

Can you say what you have in mind here? There are ways to drive enthusiastically without betting the farm on it. What do you intend to do differently going forward?

i will never get rid of this z.. i have pride in my driving and my car and yes i do go to alot of track days, and yes i do have a lot of enemies, then let them be my enemies. i am young and no im not a pro but i have pride in my skill and yes i do have ALOT to learn, and i do agree with everything your saying..but believe what you believe i can't change that. and for you to be saying what is the truth and what is not? is not on your judgement but more of mine and the rider who i almost hit. im not trying to instigate this argument even further to someone who is judging what happened when you weren't even their. i take everyones comments in full consideration and i agree with everything. i am not doing this apology because there are alot of enemies on my a$$ i could careless for those who are enemies to me because all they want is to put me in place like what you are doing but im doing this for those who i put indanger and the community who will respect my apology.

Hey, div - Can you just promise to make an effort to stay in your own lane?

redwood road is my favorite road to be on. and from now on when you see me on this road, i am in my own lane, driving will be to and extent where it won't endanger other drivers or riders but still in my mind of having fun, and yes i know what that is and how it feels like.

Bad Dad, respectfully, I don't think that some harsh words constitute "extremism" when dealing with a guy who habitually drives the way this doucheswizzle does. My girlfriend has less than a year's riding experience, and while she is learning quickly, if she had been on that road I'm not sure she has the experience to avoid the collision. The only reason this is a thread about a close call and not a RIP thread is because the OP has a great deal of riding experience and managed to save his own life from this fuckstick.

So pardon the hell out of me if I'm not concerned about his precious feelings or his delicate ego. No, I will not give him props for coming in here to apologize - the only reason he's in here at all is because he's feeling the pressure out there in the real world. He's doing this because he's backed into a corner and this is the only way he could possibly try to save face, not because he's actually sorry. His excuses are the worst kind of platitudes and I've heard them all hundreds of times before in my line of work. He does not impress me, he doesn't have big brass balls for coming in here - he's scared and backed into a corner and he just wants it all to go away. That isn't manning up; that does not deserve my respect.

EDIT:
i will never get rid of this z.. i have pride in my driving and my car and yes i do go to alot of track days, and yes i do have a lot of enemies, then let them be my enemies. i am young and no im not a pro but i have pride in my skill and yes i do have ALOT to learn, and i do agree with everything your saying..but believe what you believe i can't change that. and for you to be saying what is the truth and what is not? is not on your judgement but more of mine and the rider who i almost hit. im not trying to instigate this argument even further to someone who is judging what happened when you weren't even their. i take everyones comments in full consideration and i agree with everything. i am not doing this apology because there are alot of enemies on my a$$ i could careless for those who are enemies to me because all they want is to put me in place like what you are doing but im doing this for those who i put indanger and the community who will respect my apology.

You have pride in driving like a maniac and intentionally crossing the double-yellow? That's getting closer to your true colors. Right now you are just acquiescing to whatever anyone says in an attempt to endear yourself to us. Your pseudo-pacifist bullshit does nothing to hide the fact that you have tried, and failed, to explain-away this near-death incident and have not, in my opinion, uttered one genuine word unless it was by accident. You continue to try to justify your reckless driving by denying that it exists when we have video evidence that directly contradicts what you have said in this thread.

You have hit rock bottom, and started to dig.

The only reason this is a thread about a close call and not a RIP thread is because the OP has a great deal of riding experience and managed to save his own life from this fuckstick.

then thats you, im not trying to make this all go away, I KNOW this won't go away, but if you don't believe what i say and what i took in consideration then i can't do anything about that. im not perfect, i make mistakes, you sound like you've never made a mistake, or EVER did anything to endanger someones life. everyone has done something, your the only one preceding an image that EVERYONE is on my back, then ok, go start another thread, this is the thread from kurt, who i am apologizing most to, and to every body else in the community, this is my last reply to you blind_io because i don't want this to escalate to anything more, believe what you believe don't try and get everyone else on your side, and stop trying to get attention. i said what i needed to say and i meant it. i will be up there this weekend on saturday if you have anything to say to me.
