Digital SLR / DSLR Camera Question / DSLR Thread 2

I think I have on my XSi, will have to check.

However, does anyone have any recommendations on a good P&S that also does 1080 HD video?

I would say the Canon S95 or the Canon G12 but they both do only 720p. But the next S100 and G13 will have 1080p.

Needed to pick one up today so I ended up going with a Fujifilm FinePix F550EXR. The S95 was in contention, but I just don't understand the G12. It's not quite a shitty DSLR and it doesn't have any of the "pocketability" of a real P&S.

Needs more :boobies

:teeth

I have yet to put the nudie galleries back up, but am tempted to use a completely different domain.

For now I'll probably just have an unlinked sub-directory and send my potential boudoir clients there.

Me too.

Just wrapped up a wedding with a D700 and the D200 I'm selling.

92.6% of the pictures were with the 700. I like it that much better.

speaking of D700's...

I've been experimenting a little with mine...

Fuck, fuck, fuckity fuck.

So, I had a family shoot planned this morning. Thankfully (?) the weather didn't cooperate, because my favorite location (Bramall Park, Willow Road, SJ) is being dug up! Fuckers!

It was perfect - a small valley, with a bowl shape, mown and watered grass, redwoods all the way around. You could get great pictures without any telegraph poles/houses/any of that shite - just nice, green grass and some trees.

So, my question - where in the South Bay that won't take me ages to get to (from Willow Glen), can I use that will offer a similar backdrop? Seems like every other park is flat as a pancake, ergo you can't escape urbanity. I don't mind getting rid of the odd telegraph pole etc. - but trying to remove houses, baseball diamonds and fences is a bit beyond my Photoshop abilities (plus it's hours of work).

Hoping to shoot next week. Vasona is my stop-gap, but I don't know if the staff are friendly to someone lugging strobes etc. around, plus it's a bit far for iffy weather (which is forecast, again).

Grr. Can't believe they dug up my fave and only decent photo location for miles around. WHY?????

I'm looking at buying a sigma 70-200 f/2.8 and was wondering if I should sped the extra money on image stabilization. If I'm shooting in low light more than likely I'll be using a flash and/or a faster lens (50 1.8) but most of the time it's in decent-good lighting. I plan on getting a converter (probably 1.7) will I need it at that focal length for panning, say at a trackday or some kind of moto racing?

I just don't want to not get it and in a year or 2 I start doing weddings (which I actually want to do) and then be stuck without it. At the moment it will mostly for sports

I'm not sure if this subject belongs in this thread but... I recently got a hold of light room to do my post production work on all my raw images. I got some tips online regarding fixing over/under exposed pictures and I've touched up a couple of my pics. Anyone have a site I can check out that gives more tips/suggestions on using lightroom? most of the one's i've seen are for photoshop
