Do you wear a watch?

Haha, that looks nice. Is it sapphire crystal? Is it an automatic?

You should look it Raymond Weil. They have some really similar watches to baume and mercier at half the price ( same movement also).

I recommend getting something with the date on it.

Most Swiss movements will be sapphire crystal with Quartz movements.

I had a $16 Timex that lasted thru four seasons of painting, which is remarkable.
I like wearing a watch..I might get one for daily use.

Timex's are amazing for the price but at the end of the day it is battery powered.

There is something indescribable about having a mechanical or automatic watch. I'm always in awe with the engineering behind it. Plus some watches can become smart investments (if you get lucky of course).

I get the battery independent concept. I'd probably start the hunt with a Citizen.
I'm the utility sort...I understand watches as investments and things of beauty, I have a friend whose business is repair and restoration thereof, but I would probably just put that cash into Maple Leafs.

Citizen's are also battery dependent except they recharge with a built in solar panel.

You can drop 400-600 dollars and get a solid Swiss watch that will last you decades.

Look into Hamilton on Amazon.

I'm just lazy and make sure all my watches are either solar powered (G-Shocks and a Citizen EcoDrive) or are manual or automatic. I really like my Orient Disk because it was cheap, unique and an automatic.

I can't see myself ever wearing a rolex

They're pretty nice, but they make by far the majority of high end watches so unless you're spending a lot you're always getting the base Submariner which I see often.

It's a great watch. Looks awesome in person. The dial is stunning.

I got mine for less than $400, and it averages +4 seconds per day. Better than my Nomos.

how about the SARX001?
The only thing holding me back from the Cocktail Time is the leather strap. From my searching it looks like there is a compatible metal band from Seiko, but it's discontinued :(. I still might get the Cocktail Time though. Someone managed to get this Seiko band on their Cocktail Time, but it involved a dremel...not too comfortable with that.
