Do you wear a watch?

Haven't seen an SARX001 in person, but the dial looks pretty good in the pics. And I usually dislike Roman numerals. I don't really like the looks as much as the Cocktail Time, though. Looks kind of like a B&M or other lowish-end Swiss watch.

I feel you on the strap, and also on the hesitation to take a Dremel to a nice watch. I don't particularly like the patent leather look, although the dark blue stitching looks nice. I've been looking for a replacement strap, but the more I wear the watch, the more I like the stock strap.

The SARC015 bracelet *may* be a fit for the Cocktail Time. Maybe one of the watch forums could help you find an answer, because the Cocktail Time's band is its least popular feature.

If you are ever in the Burlingame neighborhood, I recommend visiting Topper Jewelers. Super knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Even though they carry mostly high-end Swiss and German brands, they are in no way snobs, and I imagine they would happily help you find a bracelet and install it. If not, I'm sure they'd point you in the right direction.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

It's rare I do outside of work and some other things but when I do I wear one of these. Looks great and made in Oakland. IT was a lot more than I initially wanted to spend but I'm happy I did.
thank you. of course, the 'Blackout' model I was attracted to is currently sold out. the ad copy was laughably hipster. no matter. the hunt is on.

Those look great, but they are huge. Especially for a pilot watch. Very cool that they are made in Oaklamd.

44 isn't too bad.
Try 46+huge crown for a big pilot or 46 plus pushers for the top gun

A 42mm watch looks too big on my wrist.

I need a 38 or so. I can't imagine wearing a 44, let alone 46+ (unless it's a G-Shock).

according to my HF digital caliper, I'd be looking for a 32mm. I don't think I'm a big watch guy.

Yikes!

Pilot watches are traditionally small. A big ol' pilot watch is like a diving watch rated for 30M. All style, and to hell with function.

I think the big ass watch trend will die soon.

I have little girl wrists (shut up!). Anything less than 42 looks too feminine for me

You think so? The trend has been alive for over a decade now - starting with the Panerais and AP offshores that Stallone and Arnie wore.

Well, maybe you're right, but it doesn't seem like watches can get any bigger and still be practical or tasteful. They can get smaller, though. Nomos is a good example I think; stores can barely keep them in stock, and most of their models are under 40 mm.

Someone talk me out of buying this:

I used to have one and sold it like an idiot. Now I want another one.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I've seen some 48s and they're tacky as shit, IMO. Whether they're "fashion" watches or Corums or Hublots. 46 is about as big as I'll go (again, tiny wrists :( )

Not sure how Nomos can be example for a small trend.. because they started with small size when.. there was no big trend. So they didn't make any trend.

They simply I guess never decided to make bigger watches when the big trend started?

I thought traditional pilot watches WERE made large. Large strap to fit over the bomber jackets and large dial to read easily.

Anyways, I think 44mm is about perfect, and I don't have very large wrists.

Too dainty for me. I don't think I could go smaller than 40mm.

I bought the SARX017, should be here in a week or so :). The mrs likes the Cocktail Time, but she says it's very dressy and would not look right for my everyday work clothes of a t-shirt and jeans. The SAXR017 is better suited for that it seems. I may still get the Cocktail Time at a later time though, it's really nice.
