Enforcing laws = cash grab. SMH  :laughing

No, dude, that is my point, they ticketed me in OFF HOURS. The only way that happens is if a special shift for writing tickets has been authorized. They won't send a meter maid for a front plate 311 violation call and there weren't any tows happening (which they will send for) in the area at the time. Special enforcement is the only way it went down.

And special enforcement is a cash grab? Do you deny you were on a public roadway without the front plate? :laughing

Y'know, I think I have yet to see a Tesla with a front plate.

Couldn't you just buy Vinyl sticker paper and print your own?
If the sticker adhesive on the back wasn't sufficient, you could use velcro.
Not legally.

I've seen plenty. Granted, most don't have them. But yeah, seen quite a few with front plates

They definitely do send out maids in SF on “off hours”, for parking calls, just takes as long and longer.

Haha. True. But they do exist. Additionally , I think the only “stick” on front plate as mentioned ten posts above, I saw on a Tesla … someone is sticking to them laws!

Indeed.

Especially today, as long as you're not using it fraudulently, what difference does it make? We have sheets of computer paper used as license plates now until the metal ones show up. Bits on a display. Now stickers on the front.

We have all sorts of colors of plates now. Blue on White, Yellow on Black, I think white on pink, white on black. As long as the letters are legible (and, perhaps, the proper font), thats the important part.

The whole reason we have paper plates from the dealers now is for the FastTrak systems, and, (tin hat on) the other assorted license plate readers.

I don't have a front plate. The plate itself is in the back, it's been there for the past 11 years.

Why not?
It's just an image, even if you're not paying over $100 for some company to rip you off with their own printed vinyl?

I was thinking the same, just for kicks. But I have no problem paying for someone to provide the service of fabrication. I did ask for a volume discount. I could ask for a BARF discount.

One challenge is that the sticker plates must be retroreflective, and I'm sure that there is a spec for the percentage of light they must reflect.

retroreflective…

Elfin just used that word to get her M endorsement last Thursday.
As an aside, thanks Tim, the MSF, er, MSP, course was pretty awesome. I could not recommend it enough for inexperienced riders. Saves lives man. The DMV knowledge test is lame though.

yes, every California vehicle owned came with two license plates; installing both of them had been optional because / it’s wasn’tenforce / front plate law :
… back in the day drove an MGA for years without the f license plate; … til a time in Tilden Park ~got a fixit ticket.
Same with the Porsche for years the front plate stayed in the garage cabine: till I watch the news saying they’re gonna start enforcing
