Got a Ticket for FasTrak "Toll Evasion" on GG Bridge

I had Fastrak, and I believe I was only charged about three times when crossing on the bike over the upteen times I've crossing the bridge.

Thanks for taking one for the team. :thumbup

I know a lawyer named Burris, who will take your case, assuming you got winged by a bullet from the toll taker. :twofinger

Really? How often does this really happen....

It happened to me on the Richmond/San Rafael bridge: they auto billed it.

Their response was VERY unhelpful, absically saying "disable the transponder before going through a carpool/toll lane": aka, they ADMITTED it was a mistake but would not correct it.

I had a similar issue. My girlfriend ran the fastrack account dry, and started driving through the toll lanes, paying cash.

It turns out that the transponder automatically triggers a billing event whether or not you hand the guy in the box $4. So, a few weeks later, the account is in the red, and she receives around $300 in tickets.

I was informed by the fastrack person that we could waive the fines by filling up the account... Wherein they'd charge us $4 a pop for tolls she had already paid.

I followed the instructions on the back of my citation and requested an investigation into my case, using the form provided and a letter explaining the circumstances. I also included my original email and their reply. My letter was polite and to the point. I mailed it to them, per their instructions, today.

In other words, I am following all the channels provided to me by the GGBA for contesting the ticket. If they still insist I pay, I will pay the $6

I have chosen my battles.
Thanks for all the different takes. I will keep you posted on the outcome.

The Thursday wasn't Thanksgiving, was it? (already mentioned once)

Pay it under protest. Then, file a small claims action (for 6 dollars plus your time and gas and parking) against the authority that takes the toll and ask them in small claims why these kinds of mistakes are being made. Maybe name the head guy of the authority in the small claims action.

but its worth some of your time to keep them honest.

exactly. have contested parking tickets as well as bridge toll assesments for this reason.

the bridge toll error was corrected w/ one phone call. op should just call. it's quick and done with.

Arguing with Fastrak is nearly impossible. I got a Fastrak charge months after I moved away from the Bay Area. I called them up and pointed out that it was impossible for me to get that charge because 1) I had moved away months ago and 2) I had mailed them my tags already.

The girl on the phone said that yes, they got the tags two days after the toll registered on their sensor, but they were still unwilling to refund the toll.

I asked them to pull up which vehicle was registered to that tag (I knew very well it was my Civic). Then I asked them if they had access to the photo for that toll (which I knew they did).
"Fine, sir, I'll pull it up, hang on."
"Thanks, tell me when you see the mail van that delivered the toll tags back to your center in SF."
....
"Ok, we'll refund the toll for you."
"Thanks, have a nice day!"

Sometimes logic wins out.

They sent you a photo of you violating the toll crossing so just send a photo of a check.

:roflmao Toll FAIL!

don't pay the $6, its not enough to go to collections. Or send them somthing like this:

FunnyCheck.jpg

i always use reduced fractions when writing checks. 2.50 is written as two and 1/2 dollars. 17.80 as seventeen and 4/5 dollars.
7 out of 10 times, the idiots at the register try to not take it.
i had a teller at a bank try to not take it one time!! stupid fucking bitch, did you go to school??!!??

and watching the mouth-breathers try to count change without the display on the register is classic! i sometimes give extra change, so i receive a ten dollar bill, instead of 9.83 back, ya know? they fail EVERY time. they look at me like i gave them dog poo instead of cash.
