*Liam's Wild Ride*

Love the inside scoop--may we have another?:teeth
So motogpmatters.com has a nice rundown of the various candidates for Pramac d'Antin rides next season. Even more interesting is the assertion that, as a junior factory team, Pramac d'Antin is essentially a farm system (albeit one which the factory team seemingly won't be calling up from any time soon). Whaddaya thoughts?

You or Pop, props to whoever took that shot--looks way more droolworthy than the official press photo.

Tumi's T3 Ducati Collection

Hey Liam, anyone in your crew travel with these?...

I was in New York recently for business and I spotted these attractive travel gear at Macy's and the TUMI store at Rockefeller Center where they had the yellow ones on their window display.

Pretty cool high quality stuff. Check TUMI.com for prices. :wow

We're not quite a farm system - though El Hoff got called up to ride 3X last season when Sete was injured - we're more of a racing test team, haha. The official test team (a joint venture between Ducati Corse and Bridgestone) tests parts, settings, and tires, and then at the MotoGP races, who really knows what is going down? We are unable to access 100% of the data (like every single Sat team - Honda and others are the same). I would welcome the thought of being more of a Junior team, rather than a Private or Satellite ream, but there are a bunch of things that would need to be changed in order for that to happen. As it stands now, those changes look like they're in process, but I'll know more after Estoril (which they're showing at ACE cafe on 14th and Mission this Sunday).

My thoughts on next year are primarily on hold at the moment - because I don't have official confirmation to be staying with Pramac D'antin yet. I'm technically free for hire as of the end of November :laughing so I may end up back in the Bay looking for work. It would be great to get some additional support from Ducati Corse, and working in my current capacity, I know exactly what I'm talking about. It would be great to fight for podiums and race wins, and I truly believe my crews are up to that challenge. What I'm more concerned about is strengthening the team structure, i.e. getting rid of anybody that stands in the way of that, or who contributes to the suckage of motivation that I feel certain members are exibiting at this point in the season. I didn't come out here to screw around - I came out here to kick ass. Until I see that everyone involved with the team is on the same page, I have my doubts about the viability of gaining "Junior Team" status. Then again, recent rumours state that in '09 the 250's will also be open to custom chassis and electronics powered by 600 I4's, and possibly the 848 Ducati twin (though the engines would be fairly stock). What that means is that '09 would be a brand new challenge, and all the factories would be right in the thick of things in the smaller category. At this point, I have no idea where I'm headed, but I figure I'll make the right choice when I'm able to see all the variables.

Hey Eric! The Tumi stuff is always in use by the Marlboro Ducati guys, but they don't have such great things to say. The luggage works great, survives all the crap that the baggage monkeys through at it, but plainly speaking - the stuff is HEAVY. Even empty, it's heavy, and bouncing through Europe in Coach means that weight is always an issue. Your photo shows the next gen stuff, so I honestly can't say if it's cool or not, but the current stuff *might be overbuilt*.

Here's a genuine Popmonkey shot:

Man, that is the REAL lowdown--I (and most others I'm sure) always suspected as much. How would it look if the sat team regularly diced up the factory team? Where to draw the line on just how much support to give--I guess that's the tricky one for the factories.

Well, thanks again for all that you share with us--yer damn cool fer that. Whatever path you find yourself on next, we'll all still be rootin for ya (the Master Plan is still in effect right?).

BTW, the fiance and I will be in BCN the week of Oct 29th. Unfortunately we won't be able to make the Valencia GP, but if you're in town around then, we're buyin you a pint, or tapas, or whatever's the cool thang to do out there!

Yo--it's like 4am over there--don't let us keep you from your red-eye to Lisboa!

4AM is nothing - I'm MotoLiam, hahaha. I'll be busy packing my luggage shortly, though, and I've got a bunch of clothes to fold. Not that I bring much with me on the road - one pair of jeans, one or two shorts, four or five t-shirts, socks and underwear GALORE, and then my team uniform stuff. Then there's the computers (2x) and all the related peripherals (plus digicam, PSP, DS, backup hard drive, iPod, headphones, sneakers, work files, sweater/jacket, bath supplies, real belt not team belt, lots of small stuff), plus the electrical socket adapters! Phew, there's more, I'm just spacin' a little until I have more coffee. Will go make some now.

Look at what Scott linked me to: a reason to buy a K4

Don't know what you guys are up to in SF, but there's something fun happening at ACE Cafe on 14th and Mission.

Thanks to you, even in the off season we have plenty of updates to check on.

Just had a quick question. Were you able to keep the 999 you were riding while you were out here?

Yeah - for about a week. Then I gave it back to Ducati.

Dam, alright thanks for answering so quick. Hope you get picked up by a winning team next year or the team you are currently with gets all the changes you believe need to be made.

Of course, it is not just wishing you the best, but also so we can all get this inside track you give us

:devil

Just joking, wish you luck on that.

Update, ten minutes before morning warm-up, it has started to rain. It's cold and dark, and this will be useless to determine a true race tire for this afternoon (coincidently an hour later than normal due to European time differences and an F1 race). #$)@*$()~!!!!!!

The Hoff's demise isn't pretty:

PRAMAC D'ANTIN MotoGP Press
16th of September 2007
Press Release

PRAMAC-D´ANTIN RELEASES ALEX HOFMANN FROM CONTRACT

After the Grand Prix of Portugal, during which Alex Hofmann entered the pit boxes with 17 laps remaining, and said, “I don´t have the motivation to fight for the last positions”, the Team management of Pramac-d´Antin have decided to release Hofmann from his contractual obligations for the remainder of the 2007 MotoGP season.

The last four races in the MotoGP World Championship will see a substitute rider in place of Hofmann, who will be named within a few days in a following press release.

Sad, in many ways....

HE JUST QUIT IN THE MIDDLE OF A RACE AND SAID "NO MOTIVATION" WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!

:2cents yeah, it's kinda shitty, but in the same respect, what good IS continually fighting for last place?

IMO that's sorta BS on his part. He could have finished the race then decided to part company w/Pramac D'antin.

That would have been the gentlemanly way to end it. I'd say he's closed the door on any future GP rides.

I didn't see the race but did see the results. Sorry Liam. :(
