*Liam's Wild Ride*

no worries liam ... as soon as i get the shoes, i will hang on to them for you.

on the sms messages, it seems when cingular customers roam in italy, the sms network gets hosed ... giancarlo falappa and enrico advised they each got like 10 copies of each sms from me, and that they arrived two or three days later. wtf? :confused

laguna will be cool indeed ... see you there.

ciao,
johnc

Johnc, we didn't get a chance to hang - but hang onto those shoes for me! I ended up getting a ton of text messages from you all on Monday morning, must be some crappy phone service I have! I'll be there for Laguna Seca, and get ready to Party!

Just one of each?

When you've got great Barfers (and top notch moto-enthusiasts behind you) it's hard not to come up with something cool like this:

+1 to B1tesize and Endo - and I think we'll be seeing this in 3" and 5" versions. I'm not positive yet on the sizes, so if you have a preference, email me and let me know.

I'd take a couple in each size. :)

Question for ya Liam...you posted a pic of you and the Duc and said something like "time to kiss her goodbye for two weeks." Don't you guys go back and work on the bikes to improve them or are you guys the mechanics only for race events?

1st: Cool! I'll save some for you.

2nd: It depends on the schedule, and also the individual mechanic. This particular time I had other business back in BCN, so I didn't go back to the main raceshop to assist with the bikes. Othertimes the bikes won't see the shop for weeks on end. It just depends.

3rd: I took a day off this weekend!

Well, not really a day off, but this was one of the few days where I wasn't trying to get a ton of things done on the computer. Instead, I went for a ride through the Tibidabo mountains with Hiro and Shuhei, and they flat out killed me. This past Saturday the boys picked me up and we carried the bikes to the bottom of the mountain in a rentacar known as a Kango. No rest for the wicked, because I immediately had to start changing tires, haha.

Seemed like we rode all kinds of terrain, but on the asphalt Shuhei managed to grab some photos of us. Singletrack, some nasty brush, a mess of fireroads were the norm, and I was feeling weak! I managed to keep up (and to give you an idea of the pace, while I was huffing and puffing, Shuhei was doing wheelies all over the place - and passing me). Looks like we got to some decent elevation!

Huffffff! Puffffff!

I didn't even bother to check out the view. I was too busying trying not to choke on my heart.

After the killer workout, we dropped the bikes off at Hiro's place and made our way towards the beach for a well deserved Coca Cola Light (and some Pizza. Pizza El Borne!!!!). I was wiped out and ready to fall asleep, and the guys agreed that was a nice, little warm-up. We didn't get any cool pictures of the offroad, really hairy stuff, but if this was a light workout for them, I don't want to know what the real deal is! At the beach, there was a long procession of bikers who passed our way.

Some kind of Social Statement? I heard something similar went down in SF this past weekend, too. All I know is that the bashful ones were wearing backpacks. . .

Now if only I could work on this!

-Spotted at the beach boardwalk.

Looking forward to hearing from the Barfers coming to the Catalunya GP this weekend! If you've emailed with me before, you will have my mobile phone number.

Ciao for now~

Next time introduce yourself, Bandulu! I'm always looking for new friends in BCN. I do indeed know Pau, from the Calle Paris store, and he is a nice guy.

Yesterday evening I decided to check out the level of Spanish enthusiasm in the city - for motorcycling! I went to Mundial Motors new store grand opening - which kicked off with an autograph signing with Dani Pedrosa - and on the week of the Catalunya GP!

One, I wanted to see the new shop, and two, why not? I turned it into a nice long walk and even six blocks away I started seeing young girls carrying the new design Pedrosa hats, wearing their Pedrosa shirts, and crying. Yes, crying. It was like they just met the Pope or something. I followed the waves of young girls towards the shop and found a huge crowd of people waiting in line outside. Security was pretty good, maintaining a orderly procession of people to the autograph table.

As for me? I wanted to go into the shop but the doorman wouldn't let me through without an invitation. Not even my permanent pass convinced him I worked in GP, haha, but I quickly called someone important I saw inside and had them get me in. Thanks!

Can you imagine your neighborhood Cycle Gear looking like this?

It was hot! Fortunately, there were free drinks and I managed to snag a coke.

I spent time talking with Alberto Puig and it's very apparent how seriously he and Dani are looking at the season. They are optimistic but not overly confident about their home GP. I also asked him a little bit about Le Mans, the circuit which claimed his career as a rider with a bad crash that ruined his leg. Does he feel nervous/worried when Dani is riding that track, in that same corner? Nah, every year the feelings are less strong. We also agreed that Arai's are f'ing expensive. Raul Jara showed up with his girlfriend, and we shot the breeze a little about work. In the next couple weeks, we're probably going to get crunched, workwise, but overall it was nice to talk a little with everyone away from the track.

Touched base with Dani, and he was smiling and at ease. I've seen some of the bicycle routes he trains on (and some of the vertical stuff), and there's only one thing to say. Any doubts about his physical conditioning should be erased. I tried going up one of the hills that he powers up in one go, and I only made it about a tenth of the way.

Good luck to everyone at Catalunya - especially me! I'm looking forward to seeing some of my old friends, and this is my "home" race in Europe, so it's particularly important to me. It's cool just to be able to say that. "This is my home race."

Actually, I will always consider Laguna Seca to be my home race, but the Catalunya GP? Hell yeah!
I'm leaving for the circuit sometime in the next twelve hours or so, and depending on my situation, I don't know if I'll be around (the web). Those of you looking to meet up, give me a ring and I'll see what's possible.

I'm staying at a hotel 3 minutes walk from the track, simplifying a lot of things.

Ola Kitty!

Plz drop me your whereabouts in BCN via SMS/ phone.
I'll arrive on Friday and since I'm in Milano at this moment, I cant access my mail..

I have a busy schedule for the weekend riding around all over the place on a scooter but I'm sure we'll find time to pop a bottle somewhere! Cause we have quite some reasons for a ‘small’ party!
