Since we all know what the riders and bikes look like, I've stopped taking photos of stuff that's available through the normal channels of motorcycle news. I like taking pictures of interesting things, like this cool '33 I found in the parking lot at Donington. While that's not a big deal in the states, here in Europe this thing is the bomb! They don't even have choppers out here? Do I hear a side business calling?

BTW, What's that in the window?

OK, Liam, I think I can solve your problem. The car actually belongs to Chris Vermeulen, and he bought it last year when he started to earn good mony in WSBK. Said it was something that he always wanted to have. They did a report on him and the car on "Top Gear" the BBC car programme not so long ago.

That would also explain the Track Pass from Spain.

Hope that clears it up!!

Hi Fezzick - no problems here. The joke was that if Chris drove the yellow hot rod, maybe John was in the yellow taxi. But obviously I missed the mark with that one. I know it's Chris Vermeulen's car, as evidenced by the permanent parking pass (good at all GP's), and Chris lives in Androrra. Thanks, though. I'll try to be a little less obtuse when posting photos in the future.

And Oliver, you should know better. That's just lame.

Jokers :mad

If you cannot laugh at yourself, what can you laugh at? Don't take things too seriously.

Dude, MotoLaim? Laim? Lame? I must be too tired, cause everything is coming out wrong today.

Edited for content. Apology sent.

No Liam, it's not you. It's them. Use your Mod status and delete that negative post.
(I realize it was in jest, but it's also in bad taste)

Have you not been following this thread? I've lost track of how many times people have misspelled Liam's name (not I) as "Laim". There is, in fact, one such example on this very page (my post excluded of course)!

Mocking those who cannot spell "Liam" is now in bad taste?

Dude, I'm lending a complete stranger (guess who) my 749 in a few weeks...do you really think I'd call him lame?

[edit for some lousy spelling]

ok, ok, I don't want anything to escalate. It's just a misunderstanding. I wrote Lame first, trying to be sarcastic, but it didn't come out that way because I didn't use a :twofinger or a :laughing but whatever, we're all friends here and we've got races to get ready for!

I know both of you through emails, and you're both stand up guys. Deep breaths,

Whew, a nice, hectic weekend. I'm trying to make some special souvenirs for people, get my things together (as I'll be on the road for a month), and crank some things out on my website, www.motoliam.com

First off, congratulations to Italy, on winning the World Cup! In honor of that achievement, may I present you with this! You just couldn't escape the World Cup fever, and like millions of others around the world, I tuned in. A little. There's just so much life out there to be had instead of sitting in front of a tv.

And Stan23, according to my research on Myspace, drinking Diet sodas works! Actually, I've lost between 10 and 15 pounds since moving out here, and I'm in the best shape of my adult life. There's something about the basic foods, and all the walking, that does something to you. Also, I've eaten at an American fastfood place only once since I've been out here. In November. Judging from some of the BBQ pictures I've seen, it looks like you guys are eating well. . . . . Save some for me!

I'm coming back in just over a week, and I'm having trouble packing everything I think I'll need. Chances are, I'm going to pack as light as possible, because I'll be working in Germany for a week before heading back to the states. If I forget something, I'm going to be asking you guys for assistance, so thanks in advance if it comes to that.

Here's a neat Ebay Auction . It's a benefit/charity that is somehow related to Rider's for Health, and there's a ton of MotoGP stuff and some F1 items up for grabs, too. Very cool, and surprisingly, some of the prices are way cheap. The Adam Raga trials bike is about a third of what it's worth, if I remember correctly. Oh, and lots of the GP stuff for sale is actual race-winning gear, like Dovi's boots, or Bautista's piston, things like that. But you better hurry, because there's only a couple days left to bid.

Had a nice long walk today, soaking in the sights and smells of Barcelona. I'm going to be out of the city for a while (but still paying rent :cry ) and it was good to get some fresh, beach air, and hang out. It looks like I'm going to be putting in a long night tonight, so I'm off to the gas station for another 2 litres of Coca Cola. Light. There's no diet here, just "light".

In the meantime, start preparing yourselves for the USGP, and the post GP revelry. Keep an eye out, and if you see this flash by, give a little honk and a wave.
MotoLiam is coming home.

can we see a pic of the whole lid??
Who did the paint?
Thanks...

This is the only other pic I have at the moment. A side shot and a nice variation of "Flyin" Fred Merkel's helmet. Anyone remember what year his WSBK championship year was? :) I wasn't even into bikes at that point, but I always liked the simplicity of the design. A friend of mine named Mike Taylor, in Redwood City, California, sprayed it for me, complete with a matching Arai offroad lid. Where are you painting right now?

If I had to pick a modern/current helmet design that really, really caught my eye, the helmet worn by Sete Gibernau in Mugello this year was a pure knockout! I guess it wasn't/isn't really modern, but I sure liked it.

photo here.

That's pretty cool. Very simple.

I was thinking something along those lines (simple, not flashy) I was even thinking a split "livery" helmet that is Joey Dunlop's helmet on one side and Ayrton Senna's helmet on the other.

Ayrton Senna.
joey-helmet.jpg

Joey Dunlop

Both were taken from this world much much too soon.

I was just gonna ask you to post pics of the front. Looks cool...very simple. I'm trying to figure out a simple design for my karting helmet.:)

Simple front.

Holy oversize brake rotors batman! I finally reached the end of the best thread in the universe. I feel so unsatisfied now. Liam, you better write some more or we'll all revolt. Haha, just kidding man. I'll be in NJ teaching all next week, so I hadn't planned on coming to MotoGP this year, but I'm gonna see if I can pick up some tickets for Sunday- reading this thread has gotten me all hyped up and ready for some serious action. Keep up the good work.

Nice tricklidz, wish I could paint mine, I just have no idea what im doing.
